Abstract
A device which can slide up and down on a chain or cable, can be loosened to attach to the chain or cable, but does not have any parts that come free when the part is loosened. The device includes first and second pieces, each made of structural material, the first and second pieces fitting together at concave and convex surfaces, to form an interlock forms inner surfaces with a through hole of a first shape that can slide along either a cable or a chain.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A cable sliding device, comprising:
first and second pieces, each made of structural material, said first and second pieces fitting together at an inner surface location, said inner surface location which interlocks the first and second pieces together, and where an area of the interlock forms inner surfaces forming a through hole of a first shape, said first and second pieces having a first end portion where said first and second pieces come together forming a first hole that extends through both of said first and second pieces, said first and second pieces having a second end portion, at an opposite end to said first end portion, where said first and second pieces come together and forming a second hole that extends through both of said first and second pieces, where said inner surface location which interlocks the first and second pieces together has multiple curved portions therein which press against each other when interlocked leaving no spaces therebetween other than the space of the inner surfaces forming the through hole.
2 . The device as in claim 1 , further comprising a clamp, connected through said second hole, holding said first and second pieces together.
3 . The device as in claim 2 , further comprising a removable connection, connected through said first hole, said removable connection pivotable relative to said first and second pieces and connected through said first hole.
4 . The device as in claim 3 , wherein said removable connection is a carabiner.
5 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said through hole is round.
6 . The device as in claim 5 , wherein the through hole is round and of less than ⅛ inch in diameter and sized for holding a cable.
7 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said hole is shaped to hold a chain with a cross shaped opening therein with surfaces that prevent rotation of the chain.
8 . The device as in claim 1 , further comprising a first fixed structural support attached to said first hole in said first and second piece, connected through said first hole in both said first and second piece, and said first fixed structural support being unmovable when connected between said first hole in said first piece and said second piece, and a movable support, connected to said second hole in said first and second piece, and pivotable relative to said second hole in said first and second piece.
9 . The device as in claim 1 , wherein said multiple curved portions include a convex portion and a concave portion on each of said first and second pieces.
11 . A method of connecting a slider device to a support, comprising:
connecting a first piece made of structural material, having first and second ends, and having holes at said first and second ends, to a second piece made of structural material, having first and second ends, with said first end of said second piece being adjacent said second end of said first piece, and said second piece having holes at said first and second ends, where said connecting matches said hole on said first end of said first piece with a hole on said second end of said second piece to form a first hole that extends through both said first and second pieces; loosening a connection part in said first hole, to allow movement between said first and second pieces and when loosened, allows rotation between said first and second pieces; inserting the support into an opening formed between said first and second pieces while said connection part is loosened; tightening said connection part; and sliding said slider device along the support with a device attached to said connection part.
12 . The method as in claim 11 , wherein said second connection part is a movable support, connected to said second hole in said first and second piece, and further comprising pivoting said second connection part relative to said second hole in said first and second piece.
13 . The method as in claim 11 , wherein said through hole is less than ⅛ inch in diameter and said support is a supporting cable that slides through said through hole.
14 . The method as in claim 11 , wherein said through hole is sized to receive a chain and said support is a chain that slides through said through hole.
15 . The method as in claim 14 , wherein said through hole includes inner surfaces which are sized to receive a chain in a way that prevents rotation of the chain.
16 . A method, comprising:
attaching at least a first mode connection to a structural device; allowing the structural device to slide on a chain; wherein the sliding of the structural device on the chain is done in a way that prevents rotation of the chain.Cited by (0)
