Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for compressing and decompressing still image and video image data in mobile devices and monitoring applications. Corresponding mobile device and camera architectures, and service platform architectures for transmitting, storing, editing and transcoding still images and video images over wireless and wired networks and viewing them on display-enabled devices are also provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for transmitting and editing video over a network, comprising:
a first client connected to a network, wherein the first client is capable of generating a video, permitting editing of the video and transmitting the video, over a network, to selected recipients; a server connected to the network, wherein the server is capable of receiving and storing the video, permitting editing of the stored video and transmitting a message to the selected recipients that the video is available for viewing; and a second client connected to the network, wherein the second client is capable of viewing the video stored on the server.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first client comprises a downloaded codec.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first client associates the generated video with a unique identifier indicative of the intended recipient of the video.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the server is capable of processing the unique identifier prior to notifying a selected recipient that a video is available for viewing.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second client is capable of downloading the video stored on the server.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second client is capable of editing the video stored on the server.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first client and second client are resident on a mobile wireless devices.

8 . A method for transmitting and editing video over a network, comprising:
accessing a first client, wherein the first client comprises a video code c and permits editing of video generated by the client; generating a video with the first client, wherein the video is associated with a unique identifier correspondent to a selected recipient of the video; transmitting the video from the first client to a server on the network; downloading the transmitted video to a server, wherein the server is capable of receiving and storing the video, permits editing of the stored video and notifies one or more selected recipients that the video is available for viewing; accessing a second client; and viewing the stored video with the second client.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first client comprises a downloaded codec.

10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first associates the generated video with a unique identifier indicative of the intended recipient of the video.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the server processes the unique identifier prior to notifying a selected recipient that a video is available for viewing.

12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the sever accesses the stored video to a second client.

13 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising the second client editing the video stored on the server.

14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first client and second client are resident on a mobile wireless devices.

15 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising the second client transmitting text comments regarding the stored video, and the server displaying said on the display of a device in communication with the server.

16 . A system for transmitting and editing video over a network, comprising:
a first client connected to a network, wherein the first client is capable of generating a video, permitting editing of the video and transmitting the video, over a network, to selected recipients; a server connected to the network, wherein the server is capable of receiving and storing the video, permitting editing of the stored video and transmitting a message to the selected recipients that the video is available for viewing; a second client connected to the network, wherein the second client is capable of viewing the video stored on the server; and an interface, wherein the interface is capable of displaying the stored video on a display, for viewing by one or more parties.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the first client comprises a codec.

18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the first client associates the generated video with a unique identifier indicative of the intended recipient of the video.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the server is capable of processing the unique identifier prior to notifying a selected recipient that a video is available for viewing.

20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the second client is capable of downloading the video stored on the server.

21 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the second client is capable of editing the video stored on the server.

22 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the first and second clients are resident on mobile wireless devices.

23 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the second client is capable of transmitting text regarding the stored video, and said comments are displayed on the interface.
