Abstract

A tracking apparatus secures a transmitting device onto a target game animal. The tracking apparatus engages with a target and separates the apparatus from the arrow. The apparatus includes a transmitting device for transmitting a signal to a receiving device; a stopping component for detaching the tracking apparatus from the arrow after the arrow collides with the target; and a securing component for securing the tracking apparatus to the target, said securing component including barbs angled towards the rear of the arrow for stopping rebound motion of the tracking apparatus after the arrow collides with the target. In one embodiment, the barbs are reinforced with reinforcing arms. In another embodiment, the securing component includes a torsion spring. In another embodiment, the stopping component includes one or more wings with a front edge facing the front of the arrow that is relatively perpendicular to the axis of the arrow.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A tracking apparatus for detaching and securing a transmitting device carried by a projectile onto a target, the tracking apparatus comprising:
a transmitting device configured to transmit a signal to a receiving device; a switch integrated into the transmitting device and selected from the group consisting of a sliding switch, an automatic switch, a switch comprising an accelerometer, an inertia motion sensing switch, and combinations thereof; a stopping component configured to detach the tracking apparatus from the projectile after the projectile collides with the target; and a securing component configured to secure the tracking apparatus to the target.

22 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the switch is an automatic switch comprising a magnetic switch.

23 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the transmitting device comprises a battery and a printed circuit board configured to generate the signal.

24 . The apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the switch is communicatively connected to the printed circuit board such that the battery must be removed to disarm the transmitting device.

25 . The apparatus of claim 23 , wherein the printed circuit board inserts into a rear section of the apparatus.

26 . The apparatus of claim 25 , wherein the rear section comprises the stopping component.

27 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the securing component is configured to stop rebound motion of the tracking apparatus after the projectile collides with the target.

28 . A system for tracking game, the system comprising:
a tracking apparatus for detaching and securing a transmitting device carried by an projectile onto a target, the transmitting device configured to transmit a signal, the tracking apparatus further comprising a stopping component configured to detach the tracking apparatus from the projectile after the projectile collides with the target and further comprising a securing component configured to secure the tracking apparatus to the target; and a hand-held receiver configured to receive the signal from the transmitting device.

29 . The system of claim 28 , wherein the tracking apparatus further comprises a switch integrated into the transmitting device and selected from the group consisting of a sliding switch, an automatic switch, a switch comprising an accelerometer, an inertia motion sensing switch, and combinations thereof.

30 . The apparatus of claim 29 , wherein the switch is an automatic switch comprising a magnetic switch.

31 . The system of claim 28 , wherein the transmitting device is configured to transmit a radio frequency signal, and the hand-held receiver is configured to receive the radio frequency signal.

32 . A detachable nock for detaching and securing a transmitting device carried by an projectile onto a target, the detachable nock comprising:
an opening for receiving a bowstring situated at the rear of the detachable nock; a transmitting device configured to transmit a signal to a receiving device; a switch integrated into the transmitting device and selected from the group consisting of a sliding switch, an automatic switch, a switch comprising an accelerometer, an inertia motion sensing switch, and combinations thereof; a stopping component configured to detach the nock from the projectile after the projectile collides with the target; and a securing component configured to secure the nock to the target.

33 . The apparatus of claim 32 , wherein the switch is an automatic switch comprising a magnetic switch.
