Deodorant compositions

Abstract

A deodorant composition contains β-cyclodextrin, a fixative, a preservative, and a solvent.

1 . A deodorant composition, comprising:
 β-cyclodextrin,   a fixative,   a preservative, and   a solvent.   
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1 , further comprising a fragrance. 
     
     
         3 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.01% to 5% of the β-cyclodextrin. 
     
     
         4 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.05% to 0.2% of the β-cyclodextrin. 
     
     
         5 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.1% to 0.2% of the β-cyclodextrin. 
     
     
         6 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the fixative is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol, polyacrilic acid, vegetable gum, hydroxymethylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the fixative is hydroxyethylcellulose. 
     
     
         8 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 1% to 6% of the fixative. 
     
     
         9 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 2% to 5% of the fixative. 
     
     
         10 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 3.5% to 4.5% of the fixative. 
     
     
         11 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the preservative is selected from the group consisting of parabens, salts of parabens, phenoxyethanol, methylisothiazoline, benzoic acid, 1,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)-5,5-dimethylimidazolidine-2,4-dione, sodium hydroxymethyl glycinate, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol, methylisothiazolinone, phenethyl alcohol, PPG-2-methyl ether, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.01% to 1% of the preservative. 
     
     
         13 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.1% to 0.9% of the preservative. 
     
     
         14 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 0.1% to 0.5% of the preservative. 
     
     
         15 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the solvent comprises a liquid selected from the group consisting of water, an alcohol, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         16 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the solvent comprises water.

         44 . A deodorant composition comprising:
 β-cyclodextrin,   hydroxyethylcellulose,   phenoxyethanol,   methylparaben,   propylene glycol,   polysorbate 20, and   water.   
     
     
         45 . A method of making a deodorant composition, comprising mixing ingredients comprising:
 β-cyclodextrin,   a fixative,   a preservative, and   a solvent.   
     
     
         46 . A deodorant composition produced by a method comprising mixing ingredients comprising:
 β-cyclodextrin,   a fixative,   a preservative, and   a solvent.   
     
     
         47 . A method of deodorizing skin, comprising spraying onto skin a composition comprising:
 β-cyclodextrin,   a fixative,   a preservative, and   
       an emollient.
