5 . The computer implemented method of claim 4 , wherein the viewing information includes a total number of views received by content items provided by the content provider to the content host.
6 . The computer implemented method of claim 5 , wherein the viewing information includes a total number of content items provided by the content provider to the content host.
7 . The computer implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the viewing information includes ratings of content items provided by the content provider to the video host, the ratings received from other users of the content host.
8 . The computer implemented method of claim 7 , wherein determining whether to invite the content provider into the revenue sharing program further comprises:
calculating a score for the content provider based on the viewing information; and denying the content provider entry into the revenue sharing program responsive to the score being less than a score threshold.
9 . The computer implemented method of claim 8 , wherein determining whether to invite the content provider into the revenue sharing program further comprises:
determining a number of infractions received by the content provider, wherein an infraction is a violation of rules of the content host.
10 . The computer implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the infractions include at least one of a copyright strike indicating the content provider does not own content displayed in a content item provided by the content provider to the content host and a miscellaneous strike indicating the content provider included inappropriate content in a content item provided by the content provider to the content host.
11 . The computer implemented method of claim 9 , wherein determining whether to invite the content provider into the revenue sharing program further comprises:
inviting the content provider into the revenue sharing program responsive to the score being greater than the score threshold and the number of infractions received by the content provider being less than an infraction threshold; and denying the content provider from the revenue sharing program responsive to the number of infractions received by the content provider being greater than the infraction threshold.
12 . A computer implemented method for determining whether a content item should be used to generate revenue on a content host, the method comprising:

comparing the content item against a plurality of reference content items; determining whether the content item matches at least one of the plurality of reference content items; wherein the content item matching at least one of the plurality of reference content items indicates that the content item is not original.
14 . The computer implemented method of claim 12 , wherein the content items include at least one of video content, audio content, or a still image.
15 . The computer implemented method of claim 12 , wherein the request is received prior to the content item being uploaded to the content host.
16 . The computer implemented method of claim 12 , wherein the request is received after the content item is already uploaded to the content host.
17 . The computer implemented method of claim 12 , further comprising:
determining an amount of time the content provider has been part of a revenue sharing program; and enabling the content item to generate revenue responsive to the content provider having been part of the revenue sharing program longer than a threshold amount of time.
18 . The computer implemented method of claim 13 , further comprising:
responsive to the content item not matching the reference content item: determining a number of infractions received by the content provider, wherein an infraction is a violation of rules of the content host; and denying the content item from generating revenue responsive to the number of infractions exceeding a threshold.
19 . A computer program product for admitting a content provider into a revenue sharing program of a content host, the computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing executable code, the code when executed causes a computer to performs steps comprising:
receiving a request from a content provider to participate in the revenue sharing program; determining whether to invite the content provider into the revenue sharing program responsive to receiving the request based at least in part on viewing information of the content provider's videos by other users of the content host; and inviting the content provider into the revenue sharing program based on the determination.
20 . A computer implemented method for admitting a content provider into a revenue sharing program of a content host, the method comprising:
receiving a request from a content provider to participate in the revenue sharing program; determining, by a computer, whether to invite the content provider into the revenue sharing program responsive to receiving the request, the determination based at least in part on viewing information of the content provider's content items by other users of the content host; inviting the content provider into the revenue sharing program based on the determination; receiving acceptance of the invitation into the revenue sharing program from the content provider; receiving a request from the content provider to enable a content item to generate revenue, the content item provided by the content provider to the content host; determining an originality of the content item; and enabling the content item to generate revenue based on the determination indicating that the content item is original and the content provider being a part of the revenue sharing program.Cited by (0)
