Abstract
Methods for establishing simultaneous connections on a plurality of communication devices associated with a user implemented on an instant messaging program by issuing ring tones, audible notifications, or visual indications to the plurality of communication devices and constructing a state diagram for sending the ring tones, the audible notifications, or the visual indications to the plurality of communication devices.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A computer-implemented method for multiple simultaneous connections on an instant messaging program, implemented by multiple communication devices, the method comprising:
initiating multiple simultaneous connections from multiple communication devices associated with a user implemented on an instant messaging program without signing out of another communication device, wherein the user is associated with a single messenger server that is implemented at one or more locations; receiving at least one notification on the multiple communication devices; responding to the at least one notification on one communication device; transmitting communication from a communication device that is in active mode; and receiving mirrored communication from the communication device that is in active mode on the communication devices that are not actively participating in the communication.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving mirrored communication comprises receiving notifications, transmitting and receiving instant messages, changing presence information, changing contact list, changing group information, and opening and closing a conversation on an active device is mirrored on the instant messaging program of the other one or more communication devices associated with the user.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising keeping the multiple simultaneous connections alive or open to receive communication or notifications.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising switching communication from the first communication device to the second communication device of the communication devices, thus making the second communication device the active device, as all simultaneous connections are kept alive.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising placing on hold and not receiving messages intended for a first communication device when a response from said communication device is not transmitted.
6 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising receiving communications on a second communication device when a response from said communication device is transmitted and said device is in active mode status.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising indicating presence on the communication devices with multiple points of presence, wherein the communication devices are in synchronization with each other;
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising connecting to an instant messaging program or service implemented on a web browser.
9 . A computing device comprising:
one or more processors; one or more communication interfaces coupled to the one or more processors; and a computer-readable storage media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
initiate a connection with an instant messaging program associated with a user while remaining signed in to one or more other connections associated with the user from one or more other respective communication devices, wherein initiating the connection signals that the computing device is in the active mode;
receive at least one notification;
transmit a response to the at least one notification from the computing device; and
receive mirrored communications between the one or more other communication devices and the instant message program.
10 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the connections associated with the user are associated with a single messenger server that is implemented at one or more locations.
11 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the computer-readable media further comprises instructions which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to transmit the response to the one or more other communication devices.
12 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the computer-readable media further comprises instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to synchronize with each of the one or more other communication devices that are in active mode.
13 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the mirrored communications are received while the computing device is in active mode.
14 . The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the mirrored communications are placed on hold if the computing device is switched out of active mode.
15 . A computer-readable storage media comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause at least one of the one or more processors to:
initiate an instance of an instant messaging program associated with a user on a communication device without signing out of one or more other instances of the instant messaging program associated with a user on one or more other communication devices, wherein the instance and the one or more other instances are associated with a single messenger server that is implemented at one or more locations; receive at least one notification for the user at the communication device; respond to the at least one notification; transmit communication from the communication device while the device is in active mode; and transmit mirrored communications from the communication device to the one or more other communication devices that are not actively participating in the communication.
16 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein transmitting mirrored communication comprises receiving notifications, transmitting and receiving instant messages, changing presence information, changing contact list, changing group information, and opening and closing a conversation.
17 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to receive mirrored communications transmitted from the one or more of the other communication devices.
18 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to synchronize the instance with the one or more other instances that are in active mode.
19 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , further comprising additional instructions which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to set the communication device to active mode in response to initiating the instance of the instant messaging program.
20 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein the instance of the instant messaging program is implemented on a web browser.Cited by (0)
