Abstract

The present invention is directed towards methods comprising providing a frozen liquid, coating the frozen liquid with an aqueous calcium solution; and exposing the frozen liquid coated in calcium to an alginate solution to create a liquid container.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 43 . (canceled)

         44 . A method comprising:
 a) providing a frozen liquid b) coating the frozen liquid with an aqueous calcium solution; and c) exposing the frozen liquid coated in calcium to an alginate solution to create a liquid container.

45 . The method of claim 44 wherein the frozen liquid is frozen water.

46 . The method of claim 44 wherein the aqueous calcium solution comprises calcium chloride.

47 . The method of claim 44 wherein the alginate solution comprises MA-alginate.

48 . The method of claim 47 wherein the alginate solution comprises 1% MA-alginate.

49 . The method of claim 47 wherein the alginate solution comprises a MA-alginate solution containing 0.1% photo initiator.

50 . The method of claim 44 wherein immediately upon contact with the calcium solution, the alginate solution absorbs calcium ions, which causes solidification of the alginate solution.

51 . The method of claim 44 further comprising the step of rinsing the liquid container.

         52 . A method comprising:
 a) providing a frozen liquid; b) placing the frozen liquid in a calcium solution; and c) placing the solid in an alginate solution.

53 . The method of claim 52 , further comprising the step of: (a1) further cooling the frozen solid in liquid nitrogen after step (a) and before step (b).

54 . The method of claim 52 , further comprising the step of: (a2) placing the frozen liquid in an alginate solution after step (a1) and before step (b).

55 . The method of claim 54 , further comprising the step of: (d) placing the frozen liquid in a calcium solution after step (c).

56 . The method of claim 52 wherein the frozen liquid is frozen water.

57 . The method of claim 52 wherein the calcium solution comprises calcium chloride.

58 . The method of claim 52 wherein the alginate solution comprises sodium alginate.

59 . The method of claim 52 further comprising the step of rinsing the liquid container.
