Method and Apparatus for Identification Verification and Purchase Validation

Abstract

A computer implemented method includes receiving a request for payment-related information at a wireless device. The method also includes communicating between the wireless device and a paired vehicle computing system (VCS) to verify the presence of a known vehicle. Further, the method includes transmitting requested payment-related information, responsive to the verification of the presence of the known vehicle.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer implemented method comprising:
 receiving a validation request at a vehicle computing system (VCS) from a paired wireless device;   receiving device-identifying information from the wireless device;   validating a wireless-device identity; and   responsive to validation of the identity of the wireless device, transmitting payment-related information to the wireless device, usable to pay for a transaction completed using the wireless device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the device identifying information includes a mobile identification number. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the device identifying information includes an electronic serial number. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the device identifying information includes a processor ID number. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the payment-related information includes a customer account number. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the payment-related information includes a customer credit card number. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the payment-related information includes an authorization code, usable to verify a credit card transaction. 
     
     
         8 . A system comprising:
 a processor configured to:   receive a validation request at a vehicle computing system (VCS) from a paired wireless device;   receive device-identifying information from the wireless device;   validate a wireless-device identity; and   responsive to validation of the identity of the wireless device, transmit payment-related information to the wireless device, usable to pay for a transaction completed using the wireless device.   
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the device identifying information includes a mobile identification number. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the device identifying information includes an electronic serial number. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the device identifying information includes a processor ID number. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the payment-related information includes a customer account number. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the payment-related information includes a customer credit card number. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the payment-related information includes an authorization code, usable to verify a credit card transaction. 
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:
 receiving a validation request at a vehicle computing system (VCS) from a paired wireless device;   receiving device-identifying information from the wireless device;   validating a wireless-device identity; and   responsive to validation of the identity of the wireless device, transmitting payment-related information to the wireless device, usable to pay for a transaction completed using the wireless device.   
     
     
         16 . The storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the device identifying information includes a mobile identification number. 
     
     
         17 . The storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the device identifying information includes an electronic serial number. 
     
     
         18 . The storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the device identifying information includes a processor ID number. 
     
     
         19 . The storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the payment-related information includes a customer account number.
