Abstract
A high temperature repair wrap for repairing or strengthening an item. The high temperature repair wrap includes a fabric, where the fabric includes one or more fibers. The high temperature repair wrap further includes a hardening material disposed in the fabric. The high temperature repair wrap also includes a silicate disposed within the hardening material. The fabric is configured to be wrapped around a portion of an item. Curing the hardening material is configured to form a shell about the portion of the item.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A high temperature repair wrap for repairing or strengthening an item, the high temperature repair wrap comprising:
a fabric, wherein the fabric includes one or more fibers; a hardening material disposed in the fabric; and a silicate disposed within the hardening material; wherein the fabric is configured to be wrapped around a portion of an item; and wherein curing the hardening material is configured to form a shell about the portion of the item.
2 . The repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the one or more fibers include:
fiberglass.
3 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the hardening material includes:
a water activated polyurethane resin.
4 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 3 , wherein the water activated polyurethane resin is between 20% and 25% of the repair wrap by weight.
5 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the hardening material includes:
a water activated silastic resin.
6 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 5 , wherein the water activated silastic resin is between 25% and 30% of the repair wrap by weight.
7 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the silicate includes:
silicate includes fumed silica.
8 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 7 , wherein the fumed silica is between 5% and 10% of the repair wrap by weight.
9 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the fabric is between 48% and 52% of the repair wrap by weight.
10 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 1 , wherein the one or more fibers are knit to form the fabric.
11 . A high temperature repair wrap for repairing or strengthening an item, the high temperature repair wrap comprising:
a fabric, wherein the fabric includes:
one or more fibers; and
the one or more fibers are knit to form the fabric;
a film disposed laterally within the fabric; a resin disposed in the fabric, wherein the resin is:
water activated; and
configured to cure in exposure to air;
a silicate disposed within the hardening material; and wherein the fabric is configured to be wrapped around a portion of an item; and wherein curing the hardening is configured to form a shell about the portion of the item.
12 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 11 , wherein the film includes a polyurethane film.
13 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 11 , wherein the resin includes an additive disposed in the resin.
14 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 13 , wherein the additive includes at least one of:
plastic; rubber; sand; wood particles; sawdust; fibrous material; or polyester fibrous material.
15 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 11 , wherein the item comprises at least one of:
wood; metal; glass; plastic; rubber; composites; fiberglass; ceramic; or concrete.
16 . A high temperature repair wrap for repairing or strengthening an item, the high temperature repair wrap comprising:
a fabric, wherein the fabric includes:
one or more fiberglass fibers; and
the one or more fibers are knit to form the fabric;
a polyurethane film disposed laterally within the fabric; a resin disposed in the fabric, wherein the resin is:
disposed on either side of the polyurethane film;
water activated; and
configured to cure in exposure to air; and
fumed silica disposed silicate within the hardening material; wherein the fabric is configured to be wrapped around a portion of an item; and wherein curing the hardening is configured to form a shell about the portion of the item.
17 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 16 , wherein the gauge of the knit fabric is between 11 stitches per inch and 17 stitches per inch.
18 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 17 , wherein the gauge of the knit fabric is approximately 14 stitches per inch.
19 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 16 , wherein the polyurethane film includes a dye, the dye configured to change the color of the polyurethane film.
20 . The high temperature repair wrap of claim 16 , wherein the polyurethane film is between 0.1 and 0.2 millimeters thick.Cited by (0)
