Abstract

Example embodiments provide various techniques for modeling network storage environments. To model a particular storage environment, component models that are associated with the components of the storage environment are loaded. Each component model is programmed to mathematically simulate one or more components of the storage environment. A system model is then composed from the component models and this system model is configured to simulate the storage environment.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of modeling a storage environment having a component, the method comprising:
 loading a component model that is configured to simulate the component of the storage environment;   composing a system model from the component model, the system model configured to simulate the storage environment; and   applying a simulated workload to the system model, the system model configured to simulate an impact of the simulated workload on the storage environment.
