Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A method comprising:
receiving, at a game provider system, an identifier for a user registering at a website having a persistent game embedded thereon, the website being a website of a third party; determining, using a hardware processor, whether to lock access, for the user, to the persistent game to one or more particular websites associated with the third party; and based on the determining to lock access, limiting the user to accessing the persistent game through the one or more particular websites associated with the third party.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more particular websites comprise the website of the third party where the user original registered to access the persistent game.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more particular websites comprises a website of a further party, the method further comprising presenting the user with branding of the website of the third party on the website of the further party.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein a selection of the branding causes a second window to open up, the second window being the website of third party.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein a selection of the branding causes a second window to be displayed where the user views and purchases related goods.

7 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising blocking the user from accessing and rejoining the persistent game unless the user rejoins using the website of the third party where the user originally registered.

8 . The method of claim 2 , wherein an ability to lock access is based on a threshold amount of revenue shared by an operator of the website of the third party with a game operator of the persistent game.

9 . The method of claim 2 , wherein instances of the user accessing the persistent game is accompanied with branding of the third party.

10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein locking access causes the user to be locked in as a guaranteed advertising and virtual goods purchase base.

11 . The method of claim 2 , wherein an operator tracks the identity and type of users that are locked in, the tracking used to sell advertising, negotiate revenue sharing, or present brand promotion.

12 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising providing the third party with an incentive for the user registering at the website of the third party.

13 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising providing the third party an incentive for length of play by the user or number of friends invited by the user.

         14 . A game provider system comprising:
one or more hardware processors configured to:
 receive an identifier for a user registering at a website having a persistent game embedded thereon, the website being a website of a third party;
determine whether to lock access, for the user, to the persistent game to one or more particular websites associated with the third party; and
based on a determination to lock access, limit the user to accessing the persistent game through the one or more particular websites associated with the third party.

15 . The game provider system of claim 14 , further comprising an analytics module to analyze effectiveness of the persistent game.

16 . The game provider system of claim 15 , wherein the analytics module analyzes effectiveness by computing a click-through-rate and purchase of actual or virtual goods for various combinations of content embedded into the persistent game.

17 . The game provider system of claim 15 , wherein the analytics module analyzes effectiveness by analyzing at least one of which users bought what actual or virtual goods, who undertook what actions in the persistent game, correlations between the actions and when virtual goods were purchased, correlations between the actions and how virtual goods were purchased, how many friends of each user are involved, or how long each user stayed per session.

18 . A machine-readable medium having no transitory signals and storing instructions that when executed by a processor of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving, at a game provider system, an identifier for a user registering at a website having a persistent game embedded thereon, the website being a website of a third party; determining whether to lock access, for the user, to the persistent game to one or more particular websites associated with the third party; and based on the determining to lock access, limiting the user to accessing the persistent game through the one or more particular websites associated with the third party.

19 . The machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise blocking the user from accessing and rejoining the persistent game unless the user rejoins using the website of the third party where the user originally registered.

20 . The machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the one or more particular websites comprises a website of a further party, the operations further comprising presenting the user with branding of the website of the third party on the website of the further party.

21 . The machine-readable medium of claim 20 , wherein a selection of the branding causes a second window to be displayed, the second window being the website of the third party.
