Abstract

A surgical suture material includes a drawn elongate main body and barbs adapted to anchor in human and/or animal tissues, wherein the barbs are partially in drawn form.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A surgical suture material comprising a drawn elongate main body and barbs adapted to anchor in human and/or animal tissues, wherein the barbs are partially in drawn form.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the main body has cut surfaces extending in a longitudinal direction of the suture material.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 2 , wherein the cut surfaces are substantially planar.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the main body has cut surfaces extending in a longitudinal direction of the suture material and are longer than cut surfaces of undersides of the barbs.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the main body has cut surfaces extending in a longitudinal direction of the suture material and whose length corresponds to at least 1.1 times the length of cut surfaces of undersides of the barbs.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs have an apex angle α of 10 to 70 degrees.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs protrude from the main body.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs have a righting angle β of 35 to 75 degrees measured from a cut surface of an underside of the barb to a cut surface of the main body.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has a cut surface angle γ of 160 to 178 degrees measured from a cut surface of the main body to an uncut outer surface of the main body.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs have a strengthened back.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs have a back with a material strengthening in the form of a material accumulation or material thickening.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has an elongation at break of 20 to 100%.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the barbs spaced apart in a longitudinal direction have a mutual spacing of 0.5 to 5 mm measured from barb tip to barb tip.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the main body in areas of cut surfaces extending in a longitudinal direction of the suture material has a diameter of 0.2 to 2.0 mm.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has a ratio of barb height to diameter of the suture material of 1.3 to 0.5.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has a ratio of barb cut length to diameter of the suture material of 2 to 0.4.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has a ratio of barb spacing to diameter of the suture material of 2 to 25.

. The drawn surgical suture material according to claim 1 , wherein the suture material has a monofilament configuration.

. A surgical kit comprising at least one surgical needle and a suture material according to claim 1 .
