Abstract

An absorbent article for wearing about the lower torso of a wearer includes a topsheet, a backsheet joined to at least a portion of the topsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core includes a first layer and a second layer, wherein the first layer is disposed in fluid communication with the second layer. The first layer has a first shape and the second layer has a second shape. The first shape is different from the second shape. Each of the first layer and second layer comprise less than about 20 percent airfelt.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An absorbent article comprising:
a topsheet; a backsheet joined to at least a portion of the topsheet; and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, wherein the absorbent core comprises creped cellulose wadding, melt blown polymers including co-form, chemically stiffened, modified or cross-linked cellulosic fibers, tissue including tissue wraps and tissue laminates, absorbent foams, absorbent sponges, superabsorbent polymers, absorbent gelling materials, and combinations thereof.

2 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the absorbent article further comprises a recovery element and wherein the recovery element is polyurethane.

3 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the recovery element is disposed between the topsheet and the storage layer.

4 . The absorbent article of claim 1 further comprising a periphery defining the absorbent article shape and a lateral axis, wherein the absorbent article is asymmetric about the lateral axis.

5 . The absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the core shape is not identical on each side of the lateral axis.

6 . The absorbent article of claim 4 , wherein the lateral axis divides a front region and a back region and wherein the back region is between 5 and 20 percent larger than the front region.

7 . An absorbent article comprising:
a topsheet; a backsheet joined to at least a portion of the topsheet; a recovery element comprising polyurethane; and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, wherein the absorbent core comprises creped cellulose wadding, chemically stiffened, modified or cross-linked cellulosic fibers, tissue including tissue wraps and tissue laminates, superabsorbent polymers, absorbent gelling materials, and combinations thereof.

8 . The absorbent article of claim 7 , wherein the recovery element is disposed between the topsheet and the storage layer.

9 . The absorbent article of claim 7 further comprising a periphery defining the absorbent article shape and a lateral axis, wherein the core shape is not identical on each side of the lateral axis.

10 . The absorbent article of claim 7 , wherein the absorbent article is asymmetric about the lateral axis.

11 . The absorbent article of claim 7 , wherein the lateral axis divides a front region and a back region and wherein the back region is between 5 and 20 percent larger than the front region.
