Abstract

A method and apparatus for configuring a programmable device, wherein a user may select from pre-defined user modules to select a configuration and corresponding function, representations of which are each displayed to the user, and instructions, based on the selected module, are automatically generated and used by the programmable device to implement the selected configuration and corresponding function.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 displaying a representation of a first user module corresponding to a first configuration of a programmable device comprising a plurality of configurable circuit blocks; displaying a representation of a second user module corresponding to a second configuration of the programmable device; receiving an input from a user to select the first user module or the second user module; and generating instructions that when executed by the programmable device configure the programmable device to implement a function corresponding to the selected module.

         22 . The method of claim 21 wherein the first user module comprises information defining a first standard configuration of at least one of the configurable circuit blocks and the second user module comprises information defining a second standard configuration of at least one of the configurable circuit blocks.

         23 . The method of claim 21 wherein at least one of the configurable circuit blocks comprises an analog circuit block.

         24 . The method of claim 21 wherein at least one of the configurable circuit blocks comprises a digital circuit block.

         25 . The method of claim 21 wherein the configurable circuit blocks comprise analog and digital circuit blocks.

         26 . The method of claim 21 wherein the programmable device comprises a microcontroller.

         27 . The method of claim 21 further comprising:
 displaying an indication of a configurable parameter;
 receiving a user input selecting a configurable parameter to be parameterized; and
 receiving a user input to parameterize the first configuration of the first user module in accordance with the user input.

         28 . The method of claim 27 wherein the configurable parameter comprises a clock parameter.

         29 . The method of claim 27 wherein the indication of the configurable parameter is displayed in a first form when the configurable parameter has not yet been parameterized and displayed in a second form after the configurable parameter has been parameterized.

         30 . The method of claim 21 further comprising receiving a user input changing an instance name of the first user module.

         31 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising computer-executed instructions that, when executed by a processor perform operations comprising:
 displaying a representation of a first user module corresponding to a first configuration of a programmable device comprising a configurable circuit block; displaying a representation of a second user module corresponding to a second configuration of the configurable circuit block of the programmable device; receiving an input from a user to select either the first user module or the second user module; and generating instructions that when executed by the programmable device configure the programmable device to implement a function corresponding to the selected module.

         32 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 wherein the first user module comprises information defining a first standard configuration of the programmable device and the second user module comprises information defining a second standard configuration of the programmable device.

         33 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 wherein the configurable circuit block comprises an analog circuit block.

         34 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 wherein the configurable circuit block comprises a digital circuit block.

         35 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 wherein the configurable circuit block comprises both analog and digital circuit elements.

         36 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 wherein the programmable device comprises a microcontroller.

         37 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 further comprising:
 displaying an indication of a configurable parameter;
 receiving a user input selecting a configurable parameter to be parameterized; and
 receiving a user input to parameterize the first configuration of the first user module in accordance with the user input.

         38 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 37 wherein the configurable parameter comprises a clock parameter.

         39 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 37 wherein the indication of the configurable parameter is displayed in a first form when the configurable parameter has not yet been parameterized and displayed in a second form after the configurable parameter has been parameterized.

         40 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 31 further comprising receiving a user input changing an instance name of the first user module.
