Abstract

In one embodiment, a garment includes a garment substrate and a pattern formed on the substrate that emulates the contours of an ideally proportioned body so as to give observers the impression of the ideal proportions.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
Claimed are:

         1 . A garment comprising:
a garment substrate; and a pattern formed on the substrate that emulates contours of an ideally proportioned body so as to give observers an impression of the ideal proportions.

2 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the garment is a pair of pants.

3 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the garment is a pair of jeans.

4 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the pattern forms a brightness gradient that extends across a surface of the substrate.

5 . The garment of claim 4 , wherein the brightness gradient comprises relatively bright spots associated with high points of the ideally proportioned body and relatively dark spots associated with low points of the ideally proportioned body.

6 . The garment of claim 4 , wherein the garment is a pair of pants and the brightness gradient comprises relatively bright spots associated with central regions of buttocks of the ideally proportioned body.

7 . The garment of claim 6 , wherein the brightness gradient further comprises relatively dark spots associated with infragluteal folds of the ideally proportioned body.

8 . The garment of claim 7 , wherein the brightness gradient further comprises relatively dark spots associated with a V-shaped crease of the ideally proportioned body.

9 . The garment of claim 4 , wherein the brightness gradient has a relatively bright spot at a point on the garment that is normal to an orthographic observer.

10 . The garment of claim 9 , wherein the brightness of the brightness gradient decreases as an angle away from the normal direction increases.

11 . The garment of claim 10 , wherein the brightness of the brightness gradient decreases as a cosine function as the angle away from the normal direction increases.

         12 . A pair of jeans comprising:
a denim substrate having a buttock region; and a pattern formed on the buttock region that emulates contours of ideally proportioned buttocks so as to give observers an impression of the ideal proportions, wherein the pattern forms a brightness gradient that extends across a surface of the substrate, the gradient comprising relatively bright spots associated with central regions of buttocks of the ideally proportioned buttocks and relatively dark spots associated with infragluteal folds of the ideally proportioned buttocks.

13 . The jeans of claim 12 , wherein the brightness gradient further comprises relatively dark spots associated with a V-shaped crease of the ideally proportioned buttocks.

14 . A method for providing anatomy shading on a garment, the method comprising:
generating a brightness gradient that emulates contours of an ideally proportioned part of the body; and forming a pattern on a garment based upon the gradient that gives observers an impression of the ideal proportions.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein generating a brightness gradient comprises generating a three-dimensional brightness gradient.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein generating a three-dimensional brightness gradient comprises generating a three-dimensional avatar having ideal proportions.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein generating a three-dimensional brightness gradient further comprises illuminating the three-dimensional avatar to form shadows on the avatar that highlight its contours.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein forming a pattern comprises creating a two-dimensional template from the three-dimensional brightness gradient and using the template to form the pattern.

19 . The method of claim 14 , wherein forming a pattern comprises forming the pattern on jeans.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein forming a pattern on jeans comprises forming the pattern using a laser process.
