Abstract

Embodiments of the invention are directed to compositions, kits and methods for minimizing unsightly post-procedural effects associated with an oculoplastic procedure. The composition can include escin, arnica and phytonadione in a pharmacologically acceptable carrier.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A topical composition comprising:
escin; arnica; and phytonadione, wherein the composition is formulated to minimize one or more post-procedural effects associated with an oculoplastic procedure.

2 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising deionized water.

3 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising glycerin.

4 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising glycerin stearate and/or glyceryl stearate citrate.

5 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising:
stearic acid; sunflower oil; phenoxyethanol; dimethicone; tocopheryl acetate; allantoin; retinyl palmitate; cholecalciferol; sodium ascorbyl phosphate; cetearyl alcohol; lecithin; potassium sorbate; and caprylic/capric triglyceride.

6 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising xanthan gum.

7 . The composition according to claim 1 , further comprising sodium bicarbonate.

8 . A method of minimizing one or more post-procedural effects associated with an oculoplastic procedure in a subject, comprising:
administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising:
 escin;
   arnica; and
 phytonadione.

9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is administered after the oculoplastic procedure.

10 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is administered prior to the oculoplastic procedure.

11 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition further comprises glycerin, stearate and/or glyceryl stearate citrate.

12 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition further comprises:
deionized water; stearic acid; sunflower oil; phenoxyethanol; dimethicone; tocopheryl acetate; allantoin; retinyl palmitate; cholecalciferol; sodium ascorbyl phosphate; cetearyl alcohol; lecithin; xanthan gum; potassium sorbate; and caprylic triglyceride.

13 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the oculoplastic procedure comprises a facial procedure.

14 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is topically applied to the skin.

15 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is topically applied at or around a site of the oculoplastic procedure.

16 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the composition is administered in a pharmacologically acceptable form selected from creams, ointments, gels, lotions, solutions and emulsions.

17 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the applied amount of the composition is sufficient to reduce the healing time of a post-procedural bruise and/or scar.

18 . The method according to claim 8 , further comprises identifying a patient recommended for an oculoplastic procedure.

         19 . A post-oculoplastic procedure recovery kit comprising:
a topical composition consisting essentially of: escin; arnica; phytonadione; glycerin stearate; glyceryl stearate citrate; glycerin; stearic acid; sunflower oil; phenoxyethanol; dimethicone; tocopheryl acetate; allantoin; retinyl palmitate; cholecalciferol; sodium ascorbyl phosphate; cetearyl alcohol; lecithin; potassium sorbate; caprylic triglyceride; xanthan gum; sodium bicarbonate; and deionized water,
wherein the composition is formulated to minimize one or more post-procedural effects associated with an oculoplastic procedure.

20 . The kit according to claim 19 , wherein the kit further comprises housing for the topical composition.
