Abstract
An approach is provided for determining the context-aware similarity between applications. A similarity platform processes one or more context logs associated with one or more devices to determine one or more context intents. The similarity platform further determines one or more distributions of one or more applications executed at the one or more devices with respect to the one or more context intents. The similarity platform also determines a context-aware similarity between two or more applications based, at least in part, on the one or more application distributions.
Claims

39 . A method comprising:
processing and/or facilitating a processing of one or more context logs associated with one or more devices to determine one or more context intents; determining one or more distributions of one or more applications executed at the one or more devices with respect to the one or more context intents; and determining a context-aware similarity between two or more applications based, at least in part, on the one or more application distributions.
40 . A method of claim 39 , further comprising:
processing and/or facilitating a processing of the one or more context logs to determine one or more context-aware usage preferences with respect to the one or more applications; and processing and/or facilitating a processing of the one or more context-aware usage preferences to determine the one or more context intents.
41 . A method of claim 40 , further comprising:
processing and/or facilitating a processing of the one or more context logs to determine one or more contexts; and determining the one or more context-aware usage preferences based, at least in part, on associations between the one or more applications and the one or more contexts.
42 . A method of claim 41 , further comprising:
determining one or more distributions of the one or more contexts with respect to the one or more context intents; and determining the context-aware similarity between the two or more applications for at least one context based, at least in part, on the one or more context distributions.
43 . A method of claim 42 , further comprising:
determining at least one context associated with at least one device, at least one user of the at least one device, or a combination thereof; and causing, at least in part, a recommendation of at least one application for the at least one context based, at least in part, on the context-aware similarity.
44 . A method of claim 43 , further comprising:
determining the recommendation based, at least in part, on a context-aware distance between two application distributions associated with the at least one application and at least one other application associated with the at least one context.
45 . A method of claim 39 , further comprising:
processing and/or facilitating a processing of content information associated with the two or more applications to determine a content-aware similarity between the two or more applications; and determining a total similarity between the two or more applications based, at least in part, on the content-aware similarity and the context-aware similarity.
46 . A method of claim 45 , further comprising:
determining one or more weighting factors associated with the content-aware similarity, the context-aware similarity, or a combination thereof, wherein the total similarity is based, at least in part, on the one or more weighting factors.
47 . A method of claim 45 , further comprising:
determining at least one context associated with at least one device, at least one user of the at least one device, or a combination thereof; causing, at least in part, a recommendation of at least one application based, at least in part, on the total similarity and the at least one context.
48 . A method of claim 39 , wherein the context logs include contextual information, behavior information, preference information, or a combination thereof in relation to the one or more applications.
49 . An apparatus comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following,
process and/or facilitate a processing of one or more context logs associated with one or more devices to determine one or more context intents;
determine one or more distributions of one or more applications executed at the one or more devices with respect to the one or more context intents; and
determine a context-aware similarity between two or more applications based, at least in part, on the one or more application distributions.
50 . An apparatus of claim 49 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
process and/or facilitate a processing of the one or more context logs to determine one or more context-aware usage preferences with respect to the one or more applications; and process and/or facilitate a processing of the one or more context-aware usage preferences to determine the one or more context intents.
51 . An apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
process and/or facilitate a processing of the one or more context logs to determine one or more contexts; and determine the one or more context-aware usage preferences based, at least in part, on associations between the one or more applications and the one or more contexts.
52 . An apparatus of claim 51 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
determine one or more distributions of the one or more contexts with respect to the one or more context intents; and determine the context-aware similarity between the two or more applications for at least one context based, at least in part, on the one or more context distributions.
53 . An apparatus of claim 52 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
determine at least one context associated with at least one device, at least one user of the at least one device, or a combination thereof; and cause, at least in part, a recommendation of at least one application for the at least one context based, at least in part, on the context-aware similarity.
54 . An apparatus of claim 53 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
determine the recommendation based, at least in part, on a context-aware distance between two application distributions associated with the at least one application and at least one other application associated with the at least one context.
55 . An apparatus of claim 49 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
process and/or facilitate a processing of content information associated with the two or more applications to determine a content-aware similarity between the two or more applications; and determine a total similarity between the two or more applications based, at least in part, on the content-aware similarity and the context-aware similarity.
56 . An apparatus of claim 55 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
determine one or more weighting factors associated with the content-aware similarity, the context-aware similarity, or a combination thereof, wherein the total similarity is based, at least in part, on the one or more weighting factors.
57 . An apparatus of claim 55 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
determining at least one context associated with at least one device, at least one user of the at least one device, or a combination thereof; causing, at least in part, a recommendation of at least one application based, at least in part, on the total similarity and the at least one context.
58 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium carrying one or more sequences of one or more instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause an apparatus to perform at least:
