Blower assembly

Abstract

In various implementations, a plug fan assembly may include a plug fan housing and a blower wheel. The plug fan housing may include angled corner(s) and/or a flared portion. The plug fan may be utilized in an air conditioning system.

1 . A plug fan housing comprising:
 a body comprising:
 a length; 
 a width; 
 a height; 
 a first side comprising an opening, wherein the opening is adapted to be an air outlet; and 
 a second side opposed to the first side, wherein the second side comprises:
 a first angled corner, wherein the first angled corner is disposed at a first angle from an axis parallel to the second side; and 
 a second angled corner opposed to the first angled corner, wherein the second angled corner is disposed at a second angle from the axis parallel to the second side, and wherein the first angle is greater than the second angle. 
 
   
     
     
         2 . The plug fan housing of  claim 1 , wherein the first angle is approximately 59 degrees to approximately 61 degrees. 
     
     
         3 . The plug fan housing of  claim 1  wherein the second angle is approximately 9 degrees to 11 degrees. 
     
     
         4 . The plug fan housing of  claim 1  further comprising a flared portion proximate the first side, wherein the flared portion comprises a slanted wall disposed along at least a portion of the length of the plug fan housing. 
     
     
         5 . The plug fan housing of  claim 1  further comprising a flared portion proximate the first side, wherein a slanted wall of the flared portion is approximately 49 degrees to approximately 51 degrees from an axis parallel to the first side. 
     
     
         6 . The plug fan housing of  claim 1  wherein the length of the body comprises approximately 40 inches to approximately 43 inches, and wherein the width of the body comprises approximately 19 inches to approximately 22 inches, and wherein the height of the body is less than 23 inches. 
     
     
         7 . A plug fan housing comprising:
 a first side comprising an opening adapted to be an air outlet;   a second side opposed to the first side, wherein the second side comprises:
 a first angled corner, wherein the first angled corner is disposed at a first angle from an axis parallel to the second side; 
 a second angled corner opposed to the first angled corner, wherein the second angled corner is disposed at a second angle from the axis parallel to the second side. 
   
     
     
         8 . The plug fan housing of  claim 7  wherein the first angle is approximately 10 degrees to approximately 80 degrees from an axis parallel to the first side, and wherein the second angle is approximately 10 degrees to approximately 80 degrees from an axis parallel to the first side. 
     
     
         9 . The plug fan housing of  claim 7  wherein the first angle is approximately 59 degrees to approximately 61 degrees from an axis parallel to the first side. 
     
     
         10 . The plug fan housing of  claim 7  wherein the second angle is approximately 9 degrees to approximately 11 degrees from an axis parallel to the first side. 
     
     
         11 . The plug fan housing of  claim 7  further comprising a flared portion proximate the first side, wherein the flared portion comprises a slanted wall disposed along at least a portion of a length of the plug fan housing. 
     
     
         12 . The plug fan housing of  claim 7  wherein the body is adapted such that a blower wheel may be disposed in the plug fan housing such that a distance between an outer edge of the blower wheel and an inner surface of the body is less than approximately 1.5 inches. 
     
     
         13 . An air conditioning system comprising:
 an air conditioning housing; and   at least two components disposed in the housing, wherein at least one of the components comprises a plug fan removably coupled to one or more components of the air conditioning system, and wherein the plug fan is adapted to be positioned in the housing; and wherein the plug fan comprises:
 a plug fan housing comprising:
 a body comprising:
 a first side comprising an opening adapted to be an air outlet; 
 a second side opposed to the first side, wherein the second side comprises: 
 a first angled corner, wherein the first angled corner is disposed at a first angle from an axis parallel to the second side; 
 a second angled corner opposed to the first angled corner, wherein the second angled corner is disposed at a second angle from the axis parallel to the second side; 
 
 
   and wherein at least one of the components comprise a blower wheel disposed in the plug fan housing such that a first clearance is disposed between an edge of the blower wheel and at least a portion of the second surface.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the first clearance comprises approximately 0.95 inches to approximately 1.05 inches. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the body of the plug fan housing comprises a third side and a fourth side, and wherein the blower wheel is disposed closer to the fourth side than the third side of the plug fan housing. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the first angle comprises approximately 59 degrees to approximately 61 degrees. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the second angle comprises approximately 9 degrees to approximately 11 degrees. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the body of the plug fan further comprises a flared portion disposed proximate the first surface, wherein the flared portion is disposed at a third angle from an axis parallel to the first surface, wherein the third angle is greater than the first angle. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 13  wherein the body of the plug fan further comprises a flared portion disposed proximate the first surface, wherein the flared portion is disposed at a third angle from an axis parallel to the first surface, wherein the third angle is approximately 48 to approximately 52 degrees. 
     
     
         20 . The air conditioning system of  claim 13  wherein the body comprises a receiving member adapted to couple the blower wheel to the body of the plug fan housing.
