Abstract

The present invention provides a nonwoven substrate comprising a fibrous web defining a surface; and a layer of a benefit agent wherein said benefit agent is selected from an additive composition, an enhancement component and combinations thereof; wherein said benefit agent is frothed and bonded to the fibrous web surface through a creping process. Additionally, the present invention provides for a method of creping a nonwoven substrate and for a nonwoven substrate having an adhesive film of an aqueous, frothed, benefit agent.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A nonwoven substrate comprising:
a fibrous web defining a surface; and a layer of a benefit agent wherein said benefit agent is selected from an additive composition, an enhancement component and combinations thereof; wherein said benefit agent is frothed and bonded to the fibrous web surface through a creping process.

2 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 1 wherein the fibrous web is selected from the group consisting of tissue, through air-dried tissue, paper toweling, hydroentangled web, spunbond, meltblown, coform, bonded carded web, airlaid, laminates, paper, and composite combinations of the above.

3 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 1 wherein the benefit agent is an additive composition wherein said additive composition is a polymer dispersion selected from polyolefin dispersions, polyisoprene dispersions, polybutadiene-styrene block copolymer dispersions, latex dispersions, polyvinyl pyrrolidone-styrene copolymer dispersions, polyvinyl alcohol-ethylene copolymer dispersions, and combinations thereof.

4 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 1 wherein the enhancement component is selected from microparticles, expandable microspheres, fibers, additional polymer dispersions, scents, anti-bacterials, moisturizers, medicaments and soothers.

5 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 3 further comprising an enhancement component that is added to the polymer dispersion in an amount from about 0.5% to about 30%, by weight of the dispersion.

6 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 1 wherein the additive composition is a water-insoluble polyolefin copolymer selected from ethylene-acrylic acid, polyethylene-octene copolymer, and combinations thereof.

7 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 1 wherein the additive composition is selected from a synthetic water-soluble polymer, a natural water-soluble polymer and mixtures thereof.

8 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 7 wherein the additive composition is a synthetic water-soluble polymer selected from polyalcohols, polyamines, polyimines, polyamides, polycarboxlic acids, polyoxides, polyglycols, polyethers, polyesters, copolymers and mixtures thereof.

9 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 7 wherein the additive composition is a natural water-soluble polymer selected from modified cellulose, modified starch, modified protein, chitosan, chitosan salts, carrageenan, agar, gellan gum, guar gum and combinations thereof.

10 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 2 wherein said substrate is a tissue that exhibits a log odds increase of from about 0.5 to about 18 and a GMT level of from about 800 to about 1200.

11 . A nonwoven substrate comprising an adhesive film of an aqueous, frothed, benefit agent wherein said benefit agent is selected from an additive composition selected from a synthetic water-soluble polymer, a natural water-soluble polymer and mixtures thereof; an enhancement component selected from the group consisting of micro-particles, thermally expandable microspheres, cut fibers, additional polymer dispersions, fragrances, anti-bacterials, moisturizers, soothers, medicaments and combinations thereof; and mixtures thereof.

12 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 11 wherein said nonwoven substrate is pressed to a hot, non-permeable drying surface comprising said adhesive film wherein said nonwoven substrate and said adhesive film are bonded just before being creped from said hot, non-permeable drying surface.

13 . The nonwoven substrate of claim 11 wherein said substrate is a tissue and exhibits a log odds increase of from about 0.5 to about 18 and a GMT level of from about 800 to about 1200.
