Embodiments of the present invention are related to a method for producing a composition containing biologically active follistatin.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A product for increasing muscle mass in an individual manufactured by a process comprising:
preserving raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white using one of either high pressure treatment of at least 4500 bar for at least 1 minute, pulsed electric field treatment of at least 5 kV/cm at a flow rate of 30 L/h, or a combination thereof; wherein the temperature remains at or below about 38 degrees Celsius during while preserving the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white.

2 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg or raw liquid egg white is derived from a fertilized avian egg.

3 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the process further comprises a dehydration step subsequent to the preservation step.

4 . The product of claim 3 , wherein the dehydration step comprises one of freeze drying or spray drying.

5 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the pulsed electric field treatment is in the range of 5 kV/cm to 40 kV/cm.

6 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the process further comprises a separation step, whereby raw liquid egg yolk is separated from raw liquid egg white.

7 . The product of claim 6 , wherein the separation step occurs prior to the preservation step.

8 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the process further comprises a cooling step, whereby the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white is cooled to a maximum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.

9 . The product of claim 8 , wherein the cooling step occurs prior to the preservation step.

10 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the process further comprises a mixing step, whereby at least one of a sugar, sugar alcohol and/ or sugar polymer is mixed into the preserved raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white.

11 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the product comprises active follistatin.

12 . A product for increasing muscle mass in an individual manufactured by a process comprising:
preserving raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white using one of either high pressure treatment of at least 4500 bar for at least 1 minute, pulsed electric field treatment of at least 5 kV/cm at a flow rate of 30 L/h, or a combination thereof, to create a preserved product; and dehydrating the preserved product using one of freeze drying or spray drying; wherein the temperature remains at or below about 38 degrees Celsius during while preserving the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white, and wherein the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white is derived from a fertilized avian egg.

13 . The product of claim 12 , wherein the pulsed electric field treatment is in the range of 5 kV/cm to 40 kV/cm.

14 . The product of claim 12 , wherein the process further comprises a separation step, whereby raw liquid egg yolk is separated from raw liquid egg white.

15 . The product of claim 14 , wherein the separation step occurs prior to the preservation step.

16 . The product of claim 12 , wherein the process further comprises a cooling step, whereby the raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white is cooled to a maximum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.

17 . The product of claim 16 , wherein the cooling step occurs prior to the preservation step.

18 . The product of claim 12 , wherein the process further comprises a mixing step, whereby at least one of a sugar, sugar alcohol and/ or sugar polymer is mixed into the preserved raw liquid egg yolk, raw liquid whole egg, or raw liquid egg white.

19 . A product for increasing muscle mass in an individual comprising at least active avian follistatin derived from a fertilized avian egg and at least one of a sugar, sugar alcohol or sugar polymer, the product manufactured from a process comprising:
separating raw liquid egg yolk from raw liquid egg white; preserving the raw liquid egg yolk or raw liquid egg white using one of either high pressure treatment of at least 4500 bar for at least 1 minute, pulsed electric field treatment at a range between 5 kV/cm and 40 kV/cm, at a flow rate of 30 L/h, or a combination thereof, to create a preserved product; dehydrating the preserved product using one of freeze drying or spray drying; wherein the temperature remains at or below about 38 degrees Celsius during the preservation step.

20 . The product of claim 19 , wherein the process further comprises a cooling step, whereby the raw liquid egg yolk or raw liquid egg white is cooled to a maximum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.
