Modifiable Footwear Cover

Abstract

Provided is footwear covering device that covers the calf and ankle region of a piece of footwear. The device has a base panel that is modifiable with trim panels, adornment straps, and adornment hangers. Trim panels may have glitter, velvet, faux fur or other material suitable for adding accent to the upper edge of a boot. The trim is removably secured to the top of the footwear covering and thus appears as edge trim for the underlying footwear when in use. Adornment straps and hangers having decorative embellishments are wrapped around the footwear covering, or allowed to hang downward form an upper edge. Thus, each user can customize the overall appearance of the footwear covering to his or her liking. The covering can be placed over old or damaged footwear to provide a fresh new appearance that protects the underlying footwear from damage.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A customizable protective footwear covering, comprising:
 a base panel having an upper edge, a lower edge, two side edges, a front surface and a rear surface;   one or more trim panels;   one or more adornment straps;   one or more adornment hangers;   said upper edge of said base panel further comprising a fastener therealong;   said one or more trim panels having a complimentary fastener configured to secure an interior surface of said trim panels to said upper edge of said base panel;   said side edges having a fastener line of connection configured to removably connect said two side edges together.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said base panel is rectangular. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said trim panels have a width equal to or greater than that of said base panel and a height substantially less than said base panel. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein each of said trim panels removably secures along said upper edge of said base panel and extends over said front surface of said base panel when in use. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein each of said trim panels is constructed of a different material than said base panel. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said adornment straps and said support strap are adjustable in length. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said adornment straps removably secure to said base panel near said lower edge of said base panel. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said adornment straps have one or more decorative adornments disposed thereon. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said support strap removably secures to said base panel near said upper edge of said base panel. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said adornment hangers have a closed loop at one end, adapted to secure to said support strap. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein each of said adornment hangers has one or more decorative embellishments disposed thereon.
