Claims

Abstract

A loaded weapon detection system is presented including a mobile device handled by a first user and a weapon handled by a second user, the weapon configured to receive at least one projectile, where either the weapon or the projectile has an electronic beacon associated therewith, the electronic beacon transmitting at least one signal detected by the mobile device when the first user handling the mobile device is within a predefined radius of the electronic beacon associated with the weapon or the projectile. The mobile device issues at least one loaded weapon notification to the first user handling the mobile device while a positional relationship is maintained between the electronic beacon and the mobile device handled by the first user.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A loaded weapon detection system, comprising:
 a mobile device handled by a first user; and   a weapon handled by a second user, the weapon configured to receive at least one projectile, where either the weapon or the projectile has an electronic, beacon associated therewith, the electronic beacon transmitting at least one signal detected by the mobile device when the first user handling the mobile device is within a predefined radius of the electronic beacon associated with the weapon or the projectile;   wherein the mobile device issues at least one loaded weapon notification to the first user handling the mobile device while a positional relationship is maintained between the electronic beacon and the mobile device handled by the first user.   
     
     
         2 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the first user is a non-law enforcement user and the second user is someone other than the non-law enforcement user. 
     
     
         3 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the loaded weapon notification is a danger condition notification in the form of a warning or an alert. 
     
     
         4 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the loaded weapon notification is a safe condition notification pertaining to a loaded weapon handled by an authorized individual. 
     
     
         5 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the mobile device executes an algorithm to pinpoint a distance, direction, position, and/or orientation of the electronic beacon with respect to a current position of the first user handling the mobile device. 
     
     
         6 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 5 , wherein the first user is prompted to re-position outside the predefined radius of the electronic beacon based on the pinpointed distance, direction, position, and/or orientation of the electronic beacon. 
     
     
         7 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the electronic beacon includes a plurality of unique identifiers, each of the plurality of unique identifiers configured to transmit one or more notification signals to different entities regarding a danger status of the first user handling the mobile device. 
     
     
         8 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the predefined radius with respect to the electronic beacon for issuing the loaded weapon notification is determined by either a manufacturer of the projectile or weapon or is inputted by the first user handling the mobile device. 
     
     
         9 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 1 , wherein the loaded weapon notification is transmitted to at least one social network by the mobile device. 
     
     
         10 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 9 , wherein a predetermined list of contacts created by the first user on the at least one social network receives the loaded weapon notification. 
     
     
         11 . A method of detecting a loaded weapon, the method comprising:
 handling a mobile device by a first user; and   handling a weapon by a second user, the weapon configured to receive at least one projectile, where either the weapon or the projectile has an electronic beacon associated therewith;   transmitting, via the electronic beacon, at least one signal detected by the mobile device when the first user handling the mobile device is within a predefined radius of the electronic beacon associated with the weapon or the projectile; and   issuing, via the mobile device, at least one loaded weapon notification to the first user handling the mobile device while a positional relationship is maintained between the electronic beacon and the mobile device handled by the first user.   
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the loaded weapon notification is a danger condition notification in the form of a warning or an alert. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the loaded weapon notification is a safe condition notification pertaining to a loaded weapon handled by an authorized individual. 
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising executing an algorithm, via the mobile device, to pinpoint a distance, direction, position, and/or orientation of the electronic beacon with respect to a current position of the first user handling the mobile device. 
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising providing the electronic beacon with a plurality of unique identifiers, each of the plurality of unique identifiers configured to transmit one or more notification signals to different entities regarding a danger status of the first user handling the mobile device. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising transmitting the loaded weapon notification from the mobile device to at least one social network. 
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 11 , further comprising creating a predetermined list of contacts on the at least one social network for receiving the loaded weapon notification. 
     
     
         18 . A loaded weapon detection system, comprising:
 at least one weapon configured to receive at least one bullet, the at least one weapon or the at least one bullet having at least one electronic beacon incorporated therein for transmitting at least one signal; and   a plurality of mobile devices handled by a plurality of users, the plurality of mobile devices configured to detect the at least one signal transmitted from the at least one electronic beacon;   wherein the plurality of mobile devices issue a loaded weapon notification to the plurality of users while a positional relationship is maintained between the at least one electronic beacon and the plurality of users.   
     
     
         19 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 18 , wherein the plurality of users are non-law enforcement users. 
     
     
         20 . The loaded weapon detection system according to  claim 18 , wherein the plurality of mobile devices execute an algorithm to pinpoint a distance, direction, position, and/or orientation of the at least one electronic beacon with respect to a current position of the plurality of users handling the plurality of mobile devices.
