Abstract
A wagering game that allows a player to adjust a positive expectation game situation to a lower expectation game situation. In return, the player can increase the paytable so that awards the player wins will be paid at a higher rate. Alternatively, the player can increase the paytable in exchange for a less favorable game state.

performing the following operations on a computer: receiving a wager from a player on a selected piece out of a plurality of pieces to win a race; conducting a race around a track; randomly triggering a particular piece of the plurality of pieces to reverse direction around the track; completing the race of the plurality of pieces; and paying the player a payout upon the selected piece winning the race.
2 . The method as recited in claim 1 , receiving a second wager from the player that a first piece out of the plurality of pieces will finish the race ahead of a second piece of the plurality of pieces.
3 . An apparatus, comprising:
a computer, programmed to perform the following operations: receive a wager from a player on a selected piece out of a plurality of pieces to win a race; conduct a race around a track; randomly trigger a particular piece of the plurality of pieces to reverse direction around the track; complete the race of the plurality of pieces; and pay the player a payout upon the selected piece winning the race.
4 . The computer as recited in claim 3 , wherein the computer is further programmed to receive a second wager from the player that a first piece out of the plurality of pieces will finish the race ahead of a second piece of the plurality of pieces.Cited by (0)
