Abstract

Disclosed herein are methods for the treatment of traumatic brain injury by transplantation of cells descended from marrow adherent stem cells that express an exogenous Notch intracellular domain. The transplanted cells form a pathway along which endogenous neurogenic cells proliferate and migrate from the subventricular zone to the site of injury.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method for inducing migration of endogenous neurogenic cells to a site of brain injury, the method comprising administering to the brain of a subject a therapeutically effective amount of matrix metalloprotease-9 (MMP-9).

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the endogenous neurogenic cells migrate from a neurogenic niche.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the neurogenic niche is the subventricular zone (SVZ).

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the brain injury is a traumatic brain injury

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is a human.
