Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
. A method comprising:
receiving an online content item; maintaining a record to associate with the online content item, the record including fields for, at least, a first popularity factor, a second popularity factor, and a popularity index corresponding to the online content item; maintaining values stored in the fields based on monitored activity associated with the content item; and determining whether to extend an expiration date of the online content based on the values.
. The method of claim 2 , further comprising determining a popularity of the online content item based on a determining that the online content item is about to expire.
. The method of claim 3 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of views of the online content item by visitors of a web site in a predetermined time interval.
. The method of claim 4 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of references to the online content item by search engines in the predetermined time interval.
. The method of claim 5 , wherein the popularity index is calculated based on a first weighting and a second weighting, the first weighting associated with the number of views and the second weighting associated with the number of references.
. The method of claim 2 , wherein the determining whether to extend the expiration date includes determining whether the popularity index transgresses a threshold value.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the online content item is an online advertisement and the extending of the expiration date of the online content item occurs despite an expiration date associated with the online content item.
. A system comprising:
one or more processors; a networked-based publication system implemented by the one or more processors, the network-based publication system configured to, at least: receive an online content item; maintain a record to associate with the online content item, the record including fields for, at least, a first popularity factor, a second popularity factor, and a popularity index corresponding to the online content item; maintain values stored in the fields based on monitored activity associated with the content item; and determine whether to extend an expiration date of the online content based on the values.
. The system of claim 9 , wherein the network-based publication system is further configured to determine a popularity of the online content item based on a determining that the online content item is about to expire.
. The system of claim 10 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of views of the online content item by visitors of a web site in a predetermined time interval.
. The system of claim 11 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of references to the online content item by search engines in the predetermined time interval.
. The system of claim 12 , wherein the popularity index is calculated based on a first weighting and a second weighting, the first weighting associated with the number of views and the second weighting associated with the number of references.
. The system of claim 9 , wherein the determining whether to extend the expiration date includes determining whether the popularity index transgresses a threshold value.
. The system of claim 9 , wherein the online content item is an online advertisement and the extending of the expiration date of the online content item occurs despite an expiration date associated with the online content item.
. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations, the operations comprising:
receiving an online content item; maintaining a record to associate with the online content item, the record including fields for, at least, a first popularity factor, a second popularity factor, and a popularity index corresponding to the online content item; maintaining values stored in the fields based on monitored activity associated with the content item; and determining whether to extend an expiration date of the online content based on the values.
. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , the operations further comprising determining a popularity of the online content item based on a determining that the online content item is about to expire.
. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of views of the online content item by visitors of a web site in a predetermined time interval.
. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the maintaining of the values stored in the fields includes updating the popularity index based on a number of references to the online content item by search engines in the predetermined time interval.
. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the popularity index is calculated based on a first weighting and a second weighting, the first weighting associated with the number of views and the second weighting associated with the number of references.
. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the determining whether to extend the expiration date includes determining whether the popularity index transgresses a threshold value.Cited by (0)
