Abstract

A method for determining a command for a radio control receiver and transmitting the command is provided. A radio control transmit controller for determining a command for a radio control receiver and transmitting the command is provided. A method for a model vehicle radio control receiver establishing an exclusive link with a model vehicle radio control transmit controller is provided. A model vehicle radio control transmit controller may automatically adopt a particular control configuration depending upon the model vehicle radio control receiver to which it is linked.

1 . A method for determining a command for a radio control receiver comprising:
 storing a plurality of identifiers in a radio control transmit controller, each identifier comprising an identifier of a radio control receiver;   storing a plurality of configuration profiles in the transmit controller, each configuration profile associated with an identifier in the plurality of identifiers, each configuration profile comprising one or more parameter settings;   the transmit controller identifying a receiver having an identifier in the plurality of identifiers;   in response to the transmit controller identifying the receiver, the transmit controller selecting a configuration profile in the plurality of configuration profiles, the configuration profile associated with the identifier of the receiver;   the transmit controller establishing a radio communications link with the receiver;   the transmit controller receiving a user input command;   the transmit controller determining an output command based on the selected configuration profile and the user input command; and   the transmit controller transmitting the output command to the receiver through the radio communications link.   
     
     
         2 . A radio control transmit controller for determining a command for a radio control receiver, the radio control transmit controller configured to:
 store a plurality of identifiers, each identifier comprising an identifier of a radio control receiver;   store a plurality of configuration profiles, each configuration profile associated with an identifier in the plurality of identifiers, each configuration profile comprising one or more parameter settings;   identify a receiver having an identifier in the plurality of identifiers;   in response to identifying the receiver, selecting a configuration profile in the plurality of configuration profiles, the configuration profile associated with the identifier of the receiver;   establish a radio communications link with the receiver;   receive a user input command;   determine an output command based on the selected configuration profile and the user input command; and   transmit the output command to the receiver through the radio communications link.   
     
     
         3 . A method for a model vehicle radio control receiver establishing an exclusive link with a model vehicle radio control transmit controller, comprising:
 storing a plurality of identifiers in a model vehicle radio control receiver, each identifier comprising an identifier of a model vehicle radio control transmit controller;   storing a plurality of identifiers in a model vehicle radio control transmit controller, each identifier comprising an identifier of a model vehicle radio control receiver;   the model vehicle transmit controller determining the identifier of the first model vehicle receiver is stored in the plurality of identifiers;   in response to the model vehicle transmit controller determining the identifier of the first model vehicle receiver is stored in the plurality of identifiers:
 the model vehicle transmit controller transmitting a first signal to the first model vehicle receiver; 
 the model vehicle transmit controller identifying a radio channel for communication with the first model vehicle receiver; and 
 the model vehicle transmit controller storing the radio channel as a last used radio channel; 
   the model vehicle receiver receiving a first signal from a first model vehicle transmit controller, the first signal comprising an identifier of the first model vehicle transmit controller;   the model vehicle receiver determining the identifier of the first model vehicle transmit controller is stored in the plurality of identifiers;   in response to the model vehicle receiver determining the identifier of the first model vehicle transmit controller is stored in the plurality of identifiers:
 the model vehicle receiver identifying a radio channel for communication with the first model vehicle transmit controller; and 
 the model vehicle receiver storing the radio channel as a last used radio channel; 
   in response to a powering on of the model vehicle transmit controller subsequent to the storing of the radio channel:   the model vehicle transmit controller transmitting a control instruction on the last used radio channel, the control instruction controlling the motion of a model vehicle; and   in response to a powering on of the model vehicle receiver subsequent to the storing of the radio channel, the model vehicle receiver listening on the last used radio channel for a control instruction from the first model vehicle transmit controller;   the model vehicle receiver receiving the control instruction from the first model vehicle transmit controller; and   the model vehicle receiver controlling the motion of a model vehicle in accordance with the control instruction.
