Abstract
A method for network resource conservation includes detecting that two mobile devices are to receive the same content over a cellular network, wherein the two mobile devices are not associated with the same user, detecting that the two mobile devices meet a criteria, receiving the content at one mobile device of the two mobile devices, wherein the content is received in response to a single poll event of a content source or application server hosting the content, and transmitting the content from the one mobile device to the second mobile device of the two mobile devices via a non-cellular connection.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWe claim:
. A method for network resource conservation, the method comprising:
detecting that two mobile devices are to receive the same content over a cellular network, wherein the two mobile devices are not associated with the same user; detecting that the two mobile devices meet a criteria; receiving the content at one mobile device of the two mobile devices, wherein the content is received in response to a single poll event of a content source or application server hosting the content; and transmitting the content from the one mobile device to the second mobile device of the two mobile devices via a non-cellular connection.
. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, synchronizing subsequent poll requests from the two mobile devices to the content source or the application server.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the content source or the application server is polled by the one mobile device.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein the content source or the application server is polled by a proxy server remote from the one mobile device.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein, the criteria includes a temporal criterion.
. The method of claim 5 , wherein, the temporal criterion is met when the two devices are accessing a same content source or application server at a same time or near a same time.
. The method of claim 5 , wherein, the temporal criterion is met when the two devices have a same mobile application in operation at a same time or near a same time.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein, the criteria includes a spatial criterion.
. The system of claim 8 , wherein the spatial criterion is determining that the two devices are co-located.
. The method of claim 1 , wherein, the criteria includes a social criterion.
. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second device of the two mobile devices receives the content from the first device over a wireless network, wherein the wireless connection includes one or more of a near-field communication network or a local area network.
. The system of claim 1 , wherein the content is transmitted from the first device to the second device via near field wireless connection.
. A system for network resource conservation, the system comprising:
means for detecting that two mobile devices are to receive the same content over a cellular network, wherein the two mobile devices are not associated with the same user; means for detecting that the two mobile devices meet a criteria; means for receiving the content at one mobile device of the two mobile devices, wherein the content is received in response to a single poll event of a content source or application server hosting the content; and means for transmitting the content from the one mobile device to the second mobile device of the two mobile devices via a non-cellular connection.
. The system of claim 13 , further comprising means for synchronizing subsequent poll requests from the two mobile devices to the content source or the application server.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the content source or the application server is polled by the one mobile device.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the content source or the application server is polled by a proxy server remote from the one mobile device.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein, the criteria includes a temporal criterion.
. The system of claim 17 , wherein the temporal criterion is met when the two devices are accessing a same content source or application server at the same time or near a same time
. The system of claim 17 , wherein the temporal criterion is met when the two devices have a same mobile application in operation at a same time or near a same time.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the criteria includes a spatial criterion.
. The system of claim 20 , wherein the spatial criterion is determining that the two devices are co-located.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the criteria includes a social criterion.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the second device of the two mobile devices receives the content from the first device over a wireless network, wherein the wireless connection includes one or more of a near-field communication network or a local area network.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the content is transmitted from the first device to the second device via near field wireless connection.Cited by (0)
