Use of Angiotensin II Agonists

Abstract

There is provided a compound of formula I, wherein Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3 , Y 4 , Z 1 , Z 2 , R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 have meanings given in the description, and pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof, for use in the treatment of spinal cord injury.

1 . A compound for use in the treatment of spinal cord injury, where the compound is an AT2 receptor agonist, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

         6 . A method of treating spinal cord injury, comprising administering a compound which is capable of stimulating AT2 receptors, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to a patient in need of such therapy.

         R 1  represents H; 
         R 2  and R 3  independently represent H, C 1-6  alkyl, C 1-6  alkoxy, C 1-6  alkoxy-C 1-6 -alkyl or halo; 
         Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3  and Y 4  independently represent —CH— or —CF—; 
         Z 1  represents —S—; 
         Z 2  represents —CH— or —N—; 
         R 4  represents —S(O) 2 N(H)C(O)R 6 , —S(O) 2 N(H)S(O) 2 R 6 , or —C(O)N(H)S(O) 2 R 6 ; 
         R 5  represents C 1-6  alkyl, C 1-6  alkoxy, C 1-6  alkoxy-C 1-6 -alkyl or di-C 1-3 -alkylamino-C 1-4 -alkyl; and 
         R 6  represents C 1-6  alkyl, C 1-6  alkoxy, C 1-6  alkoxy-C 1-6 -alkyl, C 1-3  alkoxy-C 1-6 -alkoxy, C 1-6  alkylamino or di-C 1-6  alkylamino; 
         or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof.
