Liquid crystal display device
Abstract
Light emitted by a backlight can be prevented from leaking through a chamfered portion of a front window of a liquid crystal display device. An upper polarizing plate is bonded over the counter substrate, and a front window is bonded over the upper polarizing plate with a UV-curable resin adhesive. The front window is chamfered and a light shielding member is formed on the chamfered portion. The UV adhesive exists between the chamfered portion and the surface of the upper polarizing plate or the counter substrate, and an outer end of the polarizing plate exists at a point outer than an outer end of the front window. Since the light shielding member for the chamfered portion is formed, light from the backlight does not penetrate from the chamfered portion. Thus, light leakage at a periphery of a screen can be prevented even when the view angle is large.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal panel, comprising:
a TFT substrate having a pixel electrode and a TFT, a counter substrate having a first light shielding member on a side opposing to the TFT substrate, a backlight member disposed on a side of the TFT substrate opposite from a side where the counter substrate is formed, a front window disposed on the counter substrate, a holding member enclosing the TFT substrate via a gap in a plan view, and the gap is between an edge of the first light shielding member and the holding member, a second light shielding member disposed between the front window and the first light shielding member, and a third light shielding member contacting with a peripheral region of the front window; wherein the second light shielding member overlaps with the gap in plan view.
2 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 further comprising:
a polarizer disposed between the counter substrate and the front window.
3 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 2 wherein:
the polarizer is adhered to the front window by an adhesive.
4 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 wherein:
an edge of the front window is chamfered, and the third light shielding member contacts with the edge.
5 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 wherein:
the edge of the front window is covered with an adhesive.
6 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 wherein:
the third light shielding member is formed inside of the second light shielding member in plan view.
7 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 wherein:
the third light shielding member has an inside edge and an outside edge,
the second light shielding member has an inside edge and outside edge, and
the inside edge of the third light shielding member is formed inside of the inside edge of the second light shielding member.
8 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 wherein:
an edge of the first light shielding member is formed outside an edge of the backlight member in plan view.
9 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 further comprising:
a polarizer disposed between the counter substrate and the front window,
wherein an edge of the front window is inside of an edge of the polarizer.
10 . The liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 further comprising:
a polarizer disposed between the counter substrate and the front window,
wherein an edge of the first light shielding member is outside an edge of the polarizer.Cited by (0)
