Systems, methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to measure mobile device usage
Abstract
Systems, methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to measure mobile device usage are disclosed. An example method includes: collecting, at an audience measurement entity, a first public debug log from a first device of a first type, the first public debug log including first debug messages that are stored in the first public debug log by a plurality of first applications executed by a first processor of the first device; collecting, at the audience measurement entity, a second public debug log from a second device of a second type different than the first type, the second public debug log including second debug messages that are stored in the second public debug log by a plurality of second applications executed by a second processor of the second device; and determining, using a processor at the audience measurement entity, a media usage pattern based on the first and second debug messages.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method of monitoring device usage, comprising:
collecting, at an audience measurement entity, a first public debug log from a first device of a first type, the first public debug log including first debug messages that are stored in the first public debug log by a plurality of first applications executed by a first processor of the first device; collecting, at the audience measurement entity, a second public debug log from a second device of a second type different than the first type, the second public debug log including second debug messages that are stored in the second public debug log by a plurality of second applications executed by a second processor of the second device; and determining, using a processor at the audience measurement entity, a media usage pattern based on the first and second debug messages.
2 . A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the determining of the media usage pattern includes determining at least one of statistics on usage of an application on at least one of the first type or the second type, or operating system feature usage for an application on at least one of the first type or the second type.
3 . A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the determining of the media usage pattern includes determining at least one of content exposure activities or advertisement exposure.
4 . A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the determining of the media usage pattern includes identifying respective debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
5 . A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the determining of the media usage pattern includes identifying debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
6 . An apparatus to monitor device usage, comprising:
a log file aggregator to:
collect, at an audience measurement entity, a first public debug log from a first device of a first type, the first public debug log including first debug messages that are stored in the first public debug log by a plurality of first applications executed by a first processor of the first device; and
collect, at the audience measurement entity, a second public debug log from a second device of a second type different than the first type, the second public debug log including second debug messages that are stored in the second public debug log by a plurality of second applications executed by a second processor of the second device; and
a log parser to determine a media usage pattern based on the first and second debug messages.
7 . An apparatus as defined in claim 6 , wherein the log parser is to determine the media usage pattern by determining at least one of statistics on usage of an application on at least one of the first type or the second type, or operating system feature usage for an application on at least one of the first type or the second type.
8 . An apparatus as defined in claim 6 , wherein the log parser is to determine the media usage pattern by determining at least one of content exposure activities or advertisement exposure.
9 . An apparatus as defined in claim 6 , wherein the log parser is to determine the media usage pattern by identifying respective debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
10 . An apparatus as defined in claim 6 , wherein the log parser is to determine the media usage pattern by identifying debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
11 . A tangible computer readable medium comprising computer readable instructions which, when executed, cause a processor at an audience measurement entity to at least:
collect a first public debug log from a first device of a first type, the first public debug log including first debug messages that are stored in the first public debug log by a plurality of first applications executed by a first processor of the first device; collect a second public debug log from a second device of a second type different than the first type, the second public debug log including second debug messages that are stored in the second public debug log by a plurality of second applications executed by a second processor of the second device; and determine a media usage pattern based on the first and second debug messages.
12 . A computer readable medium as defined in claim 11 , wherein the instructions are to cause the processor to determine the media usage pattern by determining at least one of statistics on usage of an application on at least one of the first type or the second type, or operating system feature usage for an application on at least one of the first type or the second type.
13 . A computer readable medium as defined in claim 11 , wherein the instructions are to cause the processor to determine the media usage pattern by determining at least one of content exposure activities or advertisement exposure.
14 . A computer readable medium as defined in claim 11 , wherein the instructions are to cause the processor to determine the media usage pattern by identifying respective debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
15 . A computer readable medium as defined in claim 11 , wherein the instructions are to cause the processor to determine the media usage pattern by identifying debug messages present in the first and second debug messages that have identical application names.
