Implementing comparison of cloud service provider package configurations

Abstract

A cloud services brokerage platform system includes a virtual data center (VDC) and an architecture management interface. The virtual data center (VDC) includes a plurality of resource groups. Each one of the resource groups includes one or more VDC resources. Each one of the VDC resources is associated with a respective set of resource group specification parameters. The architecture management interface enables an architectural layout of the one or more VDC resources to be displayed. The architectural layout includes a visual depiction of the one or more VDC resources of each one of the resource groups. An arrangement of the visual depiction is dependent upon the respective set of resource group specification parameters.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method comprising:
 accessing information characterizing each one of a plurality of pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations;   receiving configuration parameters characterizing a customized cloud service provider package configuration; and   generating information characterizing a comparison of the customized cloud service provider package configuration therefrom and at least one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations.   
     
     
         2 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein accessing the information characterizing each one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations includes:
 accessing a set of configuration parameters for each one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations. 
 
     
     
         3 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 2  wherein receiving the information characterizing the customized cloud service provider package configuration includes:
 enabling the configuration parameters for at least one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations to be selectively adjusted. 
 
     
     
         4 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 3  wherein generating the information characterizing the comparison includes determining a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations included in the comparison. 
     
     
         5 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein receiving the information characterizing the customized cloud service provider package configuration includes:
 displaying each one of a plurality of parameter values of a particular one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations within a respective configuration parameter value field; and 
 enabling each one of the variable configuration parameters to be selectively adjusted. 
 
     
     
         6 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 5  wherein generating the information characterizing the comparison includes determining a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations included in the comparison. 
     
     
         7 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein generating the information characterizing the comparison includes determining a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations included in the comparison. 
     
     
         8 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 7  wherein:
 accessing the information characterizing each one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations includes accessing a set of configuration parameters for each one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations; and 
 receiving the information characterizing the customized cloud service provider package configuration includes enabling the configuration parameters for at least one of the pre-configured cloud service provider package configurations to be selectively adjusted. 
 
     
     
         9 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method comprising:
 maintaining a respective set of configuration parameter values for each one of a plurality of cloud service provider package configurations; and   determining a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations for each one of a plurality of cloud service providers, wherein determining the price for each one of the cloud service provider package configurations is performed dependent upon the respective set of configuration parameter values thereof.   
     
     
         10 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 9  wherein maintaining the respective set of configuration parameter values for each one of the cloud service provider package configurations includes enabling at least one of the respective set of configuration parameter values to be selectively modified for creating a custom cloud service provider package configuration therefrom. 
     
     
         11 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 10  wherein enabling the at least one of the respective set of configuration parameter values to be selectively modified includes:
 displaying the respective set of parameter values for a particular one of the cloud service provider package configurations; and 
 enabling each one of the parameter values to be selectively adjusted. 
 
     
     
         12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 10  wherein the respective set of configuration parameter values for each one of the cloud service provider package configurations defines a respective virtual machine. 
     
     
         13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 9  wherein:
 the method further comprises selectively associating a plurality of cloud service providers with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations; and 
 determining the price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with each one of the cloud service provider package configurations for each one of a plurality of cloud service providers is performed for each one of the cloud service providers selectively associated therewith. 
 
     
     
         14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 13  wherein the method further comprises enabling a comparison of information characterizing the cloud service provider package configurations of each one of the cloud service providers to be selectively displayed. 
     
     
         15 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 14  wherein the respective set of configuration parameter values for each one of the cloud service provider package configurations defines a respective virtual machine. 
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 15  wherein maintaining the respective set of configuration parameter values for each one of the cloud service provider package configurations includes enabling at least one of the respective set of configuration parameter values to be selectively modified for creating a custom cloud service provider package configuration therefrom. 
     
     
         17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method comprising:
 providing, for each one of a plurality of cloud service providers, a comparison of a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with a pre-configured cloud service provider package configuration; and   providing, for each one of the cloud service providers, a comparison of information characterizing a cloud service offering comprising the pre-configured cloud service provider package configuration.   
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 17  wherein the method further comprises enabling a set of configuration parameter values of the cloud service provider package configuration to be selectively modified for creating a custom cloud service provider package configuration therefrom. 
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein the method further comprises providing, for each one of the cloud service providers, a comparison of a price associated with utilization of cloud services in accordance with the custom cloud service provider package configuration. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein the set of configuration parameter values of the cloud service provider package configuration defines a respective virtual machine.
