Abstract

A computer-implemented method and apparatus for releasing a data item having an identifier for transaction processing in a data transaction processing system in which data items are transacted by a hardware matching processor that matches electronic data transaction request messages for the same one of the data items based on multiple transaction matching parameters from client computers over a data communication bus. A restriction on the hardware matching processor from processing electronic data transaction request messages for the data item is detected. A hardware data processor determines a variability in one of the transaction matching parameters for the data item. The determined variability is compared to a variability threshold established for the data item, and an adjusted one transaction matching parameter of the data item is calculated based on the determined variability. The hardware matching processor is permitted to process received electronic data transaction request messages for the data item that comply with the adjusted one transaction matching parameter.

detecting a restriction on the hardware matching processor from processing electronic data transaction request messages for the data item; determining, by a hardware data processor, a variability in one of the transaction matching parameters for the data item; comparing, by the hardware data processor, the determined variability to a variability threshold established for the data item; calculating, by the hardware data processor, an adjusted one transaction matching parameter of the data item based on the determined variability; and permitting the hardware matching processor to process received electronic data transaction request messages for the data item that comply with the adjusted one transaction matching parameter.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
selecting the variability based on current conditions present in the data transaction processing system.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the variability comprises calculating a difference between the one transaction matching parameter and a reference transaction matching parameter for the data item.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a last available value for the one transaction matching parameter of the data item that is below the variability threshold.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a maximum threshold for the one transaction matching parameter.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a last disseminated value for the one transaction matching parameter or a reference value for the one transaction matching parameter.

7 . A computer program product embodied on a non-transitory, computer-readable medium for releasing a data item having an identifier for transaction processing in a data transaction processing system in which data items are transacted by a hardware matching processor that matches electronic data transaction request messages for a same one of the data items based on multiple transaction matching parameters from client computers over a data communication bus, the computer program product comprising instructions for causing the data transaction processing system to:
detect a restriction on the hardware matching processor from processing electronic data transaction request messages for the data item; determine, by a hardware data processor, a variability in one of the transaction matching parameters for the data item; compare, by the hardware data processor, the determined variability to a variability threshold established for the data item; calculate, by the hardware data processor, an adjusted one transaction matching parameter of the data item based on the determined variability; and permit the hardware matching processor to process received electronic data transaction request messages for the data item that comply with the adjusted one transaction matching parameter.

8 . The computer program product of claim 7 , further comprising instructions for causing the hardware data processor to select a variability threshold based on current conditions present in the data transaction processing system.

9 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein instructions for causing the hardware data processor to determine variability further comprise instructions to calculate a difference between the one transaction matching parameter and a reference transaction matching parameter.

10 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a last available value of the one transaction matching parameter that is below the variability threshold.

11 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a maximum threshold for the one transaction matching parameter.

12 . The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the adjusted one transaction matching parameter is a last disseminated value of the one transaction matching parameter or a reference value of the one transaction matching parameter.

13 . An apparatus for releasing a data item having an identifier for transaction processing in a data transaction processing system in which data items are transacted by a hardware matching processor that matches electronic data transaction request messages for a same one of the data items based on multiple transaction matching parameters from client computers over a data communication bus, the apparatus comprising:
