Abstract
A nail coating removal wrap and retainer for securing a solvent pad to a digit of a user of a durable nail coating so that a solvent held by the pad is retained in contact with the nail coating to be removed. The nail coating removal wrap and retainer includes a wrap strip to which the solvent pad is bonded in a method impervious to the solvent held by the solvent pad. The wrap strip is selected or treated so that the wrap coheres to itself when wrapped around the digit of the user to releasably secure the wrap to the digit of the user while the solvent works to loosen the nail coating.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A nail coating removal wrap and retainer for assisting with removal of a nail coating from a nail plate of a user, the wrap comprising:
a stretchable wrap strip formed from a material having cohesive properties; and a solvent pad bonded to the wrap strip, the bonding being non-soluble; the solvent pad sized to correspond to the nail plate having the nail coating desired to be removed, the solvent pad made of a material that absorbs and retains a solvent to facilitate the removal of the nail coating; the wrap strip configured to position the solvent pad in contact with the nail coating and extend around an appendage of the user to which the nail plate is attached and extend back and overlap on itself, the wrap strip further being cohesive with itself at least in an area of the overlap; and wherein the cohesion of the wrap strip with itself comes from cohesive properties of the material of the wrap strip.
2 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein the solvent pad is ultrasonically bonded to the wrap strip.
3 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein the solvent pad is bonded to the wrap strip by a plurality of ultrasonic welds.
4 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 3 , wherein the solvent pad is bonded to the wrap strip by a first plurality of ultrasonic welds on a first side of the solvent pad and a second plurality of ultrasonic welds on a second side of the solvent pad.
5 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 4 , wherein the solvent pad is free from bonds to the wrap strip on at least one side of the solvent pad.
6 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein the material of the wrap strip is a latex free non-woven material.
7 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein the solvent pad is bonded to the wrap strip substantially closer to a first end of the wrap strip than a second end of the wrap strip.
8 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein when the wrap and retainer is applied to the appendage of the user, a tip of the appendage is exposed and unobstructed by the wrap strip.
9 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , wherein the solvent pad is permeated by a solvent.
10 . The nail coating removal wrap and retainer of claim 1 , further comprising a solvent impervious layer located between the solvent pad and the wrap strip to prevent solvent from the solvent pad from contacting the wrap strip.
11 . A nail covering removal wrap and retainer for assisting with removal of a nail covering from a nail plate of a user, the wrap comprising:
a flexible wrap strip; and a solvent pad ultrasonically bonded to the wrap strip; the solvent pad sized to correspond to the nail plate having the nail covering desired to be removed, the solvent pad made of a material that absorbs and retains a solvent to assist in the removal of the nail covering; and the wrap strip configured to position the solvent pad in contact with the nail covering and extend around an appendage of the user to which the nail plate is attached and extend back and overlap on itself
12 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 11 , wherein the wrap strip is made of a stretchable and cohesive material.
13 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 12 , wherein the material of the wrap strip is a latex free non-woven material.
14 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 12 , wherein the wrap strip is secured to itself at least in an area of the overlap and wherein the securing of the wrap strip with itself comes from cohesive properties of the cohesive material.
15 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 12 further comprising a first coating on a first end of the wrap strip adjacent to and on an opposite side from the solvent pad that will cohere to a second opposite end of the wrap strip on a side with the solvent pad.
16 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 15 , further comprising a second coating on the second end of the wrap strip on a same side as the solvent pad such that the second coating will cohere to the first end of the wrap strip.
17 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 11 , wherein the solvent pad is ultrasonically bonded to the wrap strip at a location on the wrap strip offset from a center of the wrap strip.
18 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 11 , wherein when the wrap strip is applied to the user, substantially the entirety of the nail plate is in contact with the solvent pad.
19 . The nail covering removal wrap and retainer of claim 11 , wherein the solvent pad is made from a poly backed melt blown polypropylene material.
20 . A nail coating removal wrap and retainer for assisting with removal of a nail coating from a nail plate of a user, the wrap comprising:
a stretchable wrap strip formed from a latex free non-woven material having cohesive properties; and a solvent pad bonded to the wrap strip substantially closer to a first end of the wrap strip than a second end of the wrap strip; the solvent pad sized to correspond to the nail plate having the nail coating desired to be removed, the solvent pad made of a melt blown polypropylene material that absorbs and retains a solvent to facilitate the removal of the nail coating; the wrap strip configured to position the solvent pad in contact with the nail coating and extend around an appendage of the user to which the nail plate is attached and extend back and overlap on itself, the wrap strip further being cohesive with itself at least in an area of the overlap; wherein when the wrap and retainer is applied to the appendage of the user, a tip of the appendage is exposed and unobstructed by the wrap strip; and wherein the cohesion of the wrap strip with itself comes from cohesive properties of the material of the wrap strip.Cited by (0)
