Abstract
A golf club head of the wood-type, including a body having a ball-striking face and a sole is disclosed. The sole can include a wave slot for adding additional weight to the golf club head. The wave slot can include a front sidewall, a rear sidewall, and at least one wave. The wave can be positioned between the front and rear sidewalls, and can include a valley portion at the lowest point of the wave such that the valley portion does not protrude below the sole. The wave slot can also have two, three, or more waves, which can each be the same or different heights.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A golf club head comprising:
a body defining an interior cavity and including a ball-striking face and a sole; a wave slot located on the sole and comprising a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and at least one wave; wherein the first sidewall extends substantially in a first generally upward direction and is located proximate the ball-striking face, and the second sidewall extends substantially in a second generally upward direction and is located proximate the sole; wherein each wave is positioned between the first and second sidewalls, and comprises a valley portion; wherein the valley portion of each wave does not protrude below the sole.
2 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the wave slot comprises two waves of substantially equal height.
3 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a height of the first sidewall is substantially equal to a height of the second sidewall.
4 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the wave slot comprises a first wave having a first height and a second wave having a second height, the second height being greater than the first height.
5 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the first wave is located proximate the first sidewall, and the second wave is located proximate the second sidewall.
6 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the second wave is located proximate the first sidewall, and the first wave is located proximate the second sidewall.
7 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein a height of first sidewall is greater than a height of the second sidewall.
8 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein a height of the second sidewall is greater than a height of the first sidewall.
9 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein a height of first sidewall is substantially equal to a height of the second sidewall.
10 . The golf club head of claim 1 , further comprising a damper attached to the wave slot portion of the golf club head, and disposed such that it does not protrude below the sole.
11 . The golf club head of claim 10 , wherein the damper comprises one or more of tungsten, plastic, aluminum, and steel.
12 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the damper is attached by one or more of soldering, welding, gluing, clipping, and riveting.
13 . A golf club head comprising:
a body defining an interior cavity and including a ball-striking face and a sole; a wave slot located on the sole and comprising at least two waves; wherein each wave comprises a peak portion, a valley portion, and has a height; wherein the valley portion of each wave does not protrude below the sole.
14 . The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the wave slot comprises two waves of substantially equal height.
15 . The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the wave slot comprises a first wave having a first height and a second wave having a second height, the second height being greater than the first height.
16 . The golf club head of claim 15 , wherein the peak portion of the first wave extends further from the sole in a generally upward direction than the peak portion of the second wave.
17 . The golf club head of claim 15 , wherein the valley portion of the first wave extends further towards the sole in the generally upward direction than the valley portion of the second wave.
18 . The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the wave slot comprises three waves.
19 . The golf club head of claim 13 , further comprising a damper attached to the wave slot portion of the golf club head.
20 . The golf club head of claim 19 , wherein the damper comprises tungsten, plastic, aluminum, or steel.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
