Abstract

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving at least one transformation identifier associated with a first image maintained by a social-networking system. The transformation identifier includes at least one transformation version. The method further includes determining at least one transformation version. The method further includes determining at least one transformation for application to the first image based on the at least one transformation identifier and the at least one transformation version.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
 by one or more computing servers of a social-networking system, receiving, from a publishing client device of a first user, at least one transformation identifier associated with a first image maintained by the social-networking system, wherein each of the transformation identifiers uniquely identifies a transformation selected by the first user at the publishing client device for application to the first image; by one or more computing servers of the social-networking system, receiving, from the publishing client device, one or more capabilities of the publishing client device; by one or more computing servers of the social-networking system, storing the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device with the first image in a data store of the social-networking system; and by one or more computing servers of the social-networking system, determining a transformation version for each selected transformation for application to the first image based on the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving a request for an altered image from a consuming client device; determining one or more capabilities of the consuming client device; and creating a first image copy based on the first image and the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device, the first image copy being optimized to the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device.

         3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the consuming client device is at least one of a smart consuming client device and a simple consuming client device.

         4 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
 applying the at least one transformation to the first image copy to create an altered image copy; and providing the altered image copy to the consuming client device.

         5 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising providing the first image copy and an indication of the at least one selected transformation to the consuming client device.

         6 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
 determining at least one transformation version for the consuming client device based on the at least one selected transformation and the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device; creating an altered image copy by applying the at least one transformation version of the at least one selected transformation to the first image copy; and providing the altered image copy to the consuming client device.

         7 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
 determining at least one transformation version for the consuming client device based on the at least one selected transformation and the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device; and providing the first image copy and the at least one transformation version for the consuming client device to the consuming client device.

         8 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising receiving a consuming client device identifier, and wherein determining the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device is based on the consuming client device identifier.

         9 . The method of claim 2 , wherein determining a transformation version for each selected transformation is further based on the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device.

         10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device comprise one or more capabilities of an application running on the consuming client device, wherein a second user of the consuming client device accesses the social-networking system via the application.

         11 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device comprise one or more graphics processing capabilities of the consuming client device.

         12 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the consuming client device comprise a display size of the consuming client device.

         13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one transformation identifier may be used to apply the at least one selected transformation to a second image.

         14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the first image is associated with the first user of the social-networking system and the second image is associated with a second user of the social-networking system.

         15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one transformation identifier is provided by the first user of the social-networking system to a second user of the social-networking system.

         16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device comprise one or more capabilities of an application running on the publishing client device, wherein the first user accesses the social-networking system via the application.

         17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device comprise one or more graphics processing capabilities of the publishing client device.

         18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device comprise a display size of the publishing client device.

         19 . One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software that is operable when executed to:
 receive, from a publishing client device of a first user, at least one transformation identifier associated with a first image maintained by the social-networking system, wherein each of the transformation identifiers uniquely identifies a transformation selected by the first user at the publishing client device for application to the first image; receive, from the publishing client device, one or more capabilities of the publishing client device; store the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device with the first image in a data store of the social-networking system; and determine a transformation version for each selected transformation for application to the first image based on the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device.

         20 . A system comprising:
 one or more processors; and a memory coupled to the processors comprising instructions executable by the processors, the processors operable when executing the instructions to:
 receive, from a publishing client device of a first user, at least one transformation identifier associated with a first image maintained by the social-networking system, wherein each of the transformation identifiers uniquely identifies a transformation selected by the first user at the publishing client device for application to the first image;
 receive, from the publishing client device, one or more capabilities of the publishing client device;
 store the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device with the first image in a data store of the social-networking system; and
 determine a transformation version for each selected transformation for application to the first image based on the at least one transformation identifier and the one or more capabilities of the publishing client device.
