Abstract

To assist in monitoring the intelligent messaging network, a system and method for publishing logging and status information from the servers is provided. A list of available servers accessible for monitoring by persons, devices, and applications via a remote monitor device can be provided. The remote monitor device may forward selected servers from the list of available servers in which they are interested. Also, particular information about the selected servers can be requested. Access to certain servers and information may be restricted to those with authorization. Authorization can be verified by the use of digital certificates. The requested information can then be gathered and provided to authorized persons or devices. Typically, the information includes logging and status information from the servers. The information can be provided as an XML page and viewed using, for example, a standard web browser. Further, if the information is provided to the remote monitor device as an XML page, a standard XML parser may be used to extract particular information from the XML page.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 44 . (canceled)

         45 . A remote monitoring system, comprising:
a wireless device; a server having stored therein a server application for execution by said server; a protocol gateway to encapsulate a fundamental network protocol underlying each of at least two different wireless network protocols; a message router to route a text message initiated by said wireless device, between said protocol gateway and said server; a remote monitor client to monitor a status and logging information for at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router; and a web server providing a communication path between said remote monitor client, and at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router.

46 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
said web server compiles a list of available servers, available protocol gateways, and available message routers, and communicates said list to said remote monitor client.

47 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 46 , wherein:
said compiled list is provided to said remote monitor client as an XML page.

48 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
said web server receives requested information from at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router, and provides said requested information to said remote monitor client.

49 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
said status and logging information is provided to said remote monitor client as an XML page.

50 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
a communication path between said web server and said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router, utilizes hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP).

51 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
a communication path between said web server and said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router, utilizes HTTP-S.

52 . The remote monitoring system according to claim 45 , wherein:
said status and logging information are parsable to extract particular information about a particular server from among a plurality of monitored servers.

53 . A method of remotely monitoring, comprising:
receiving a text message initiated by a wireless device; encapsulating a fundamental network protocol underlying each of at least two different wireless network protocols; routing a text message initiated by said wireless device, between a protocol gateway and a server; remotely monitoring, at a remote monitor client, a status and logging information for at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router; and providing a communication path between said remote monitor client, and at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router.

54 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , further comprising:
compiling a list of available servers, available protocol gateways, and available message routers; and routing said compiled list to said remote monitor client.

55 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , further comprising:
providing said compiled list to said remote monitor client as an XML page.

56 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , further comprising:
receiving requested information, at said web server, from at least one of said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router; and routing said requested information to said remote monitor client.

57 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , wherein:
said status and logging information is provided to said remote monitor client as an XML page.

58 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , wherein:
a communication path between said web server and said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router, utilizes hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP).

59 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , wherein:
a communication path between said web server and said server, said protocol gateway, and said message router, utilizes HTTP-S.

60 . The method of remotely monitoring according to claim 53 , wherein:
wherein said status and logging information are parsable to extract particular information about a particular server from among a plurality of monitored servers.
