Abstract

A cleaning device for door handles and door push plates comprising a housing ( 60 ) for mounting on a door, the housing having a reservoir ( 76 ) of disinfectant liquid and a spray head ( 71 ), an actuating arm ( 72 ) which projects outwardly from the housing and is in use operatively associated with a door frame in which the door is mounted, such that opening or closing of the door causes movement of the actuating arm ( 72 ) to operate the spray head and to spray a disinfectant liquid onto the door handle, door to push plate or other door surface, wherein the actuating arm engages with the door frame to operate the spray head.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A cleaning device for door handles and door push plates comprising a housing for mounting on a door, the housing having a reservoir for disinfectant liquid and a spray head, an actuating arm which projects outwardly from the housing and is in use operatively associated with a door frame in which the door is mounted, such that opening or closing of the door causes movement of the actuating arm to operate the spray head and to spray a disinfectant liquid onto the door handle, door push plate or other door surface, wherein the actuating arm engages with the door frame to operate the spray head.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the actuating arm has a door engaging portion which in use engages directly with the door frame when the door is in a closed position.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 2 wherein the door engaging portion of the actuating arm projects forwardly of a plane of the housing which abuts the door.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 2 wherein the actuating arm has an actuating portion disposed within the housing and arranged to move a slidable arm to activate the spray head.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 4 wherein the actuating portion comprises a cam portion.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 5 wherein the slidable arm has a cam surface which engages with the cam portion on the actuating arm.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the reservoir of disinfectant liquid comprises a flexible bag or pouch type container.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 7 wherein the bag has a conduit connected to the spray head.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 8 wherein the conduit is detachably attached to the slider and moves with the slider.

. A refill unit for the cleaning device of claim 4 comprising a flexible pouch of disinfectant liquid having a conduit for attaching to the slider, and a spray head connected to the conduit.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the reservoir for disinfectant liquid is a container of solid wall construction moveably mounted within the housing.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 10 wherein the container is pivotally mounted within the housing and moveable by an actuating portion of the actuating arm.

. A refill unit for the cleaning device as claimed in claim 11 comprising a solid walled container having a spray head attached thereto.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the actuating arm is mounted within the door structure and comprises a spring urged arm which has an end which engages with the door frame.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 14 wherein the actuating arm has an extension part having a hole to receive a trigger pin which projects from the rear of the housing so that movement of the actuating arm causes movement of a slider within the housing to operate the spray head.

. A cleaning device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the actuating arm is wedge shaped and projects from a sidewall of the housing.
