Contextual promotions
Abstract
A database of available promotions may be accessed. The promotions may be associated with one or more sellers, one or more product lines, one or more themes, and so on. A user may submit a search query to a search engine. The search engine may process the search query and generate a set of results. Items in the result set may be associated with one or more of the promotions. Based on the associations with promotions in the set of results to the user's query, one or more promotions may be selected for presentation to the user. The number of selected promotions may be a constant, set by the user, or determined on a query-by-query basis. The selected promotions may be presented to the user along with the search results for the query.
