Case With A Removable Magnetic Material Back For A Mobile Electronic Device

Abstract

A case for a mobile electronic device is provided. The case includes a removable magnetic material back that covers substantially all of a back side of the mobile electronic device when the device is housed within the case. The removable magnetic material back includes magnetic material and a substantially planar exterior surface facing away from the mobile electronic device when the mobile electronic device is housed within the case. The case also includes a skin including magnetic material. The skin is configured to be removably coupled with the substantially planar exterior surface of the removable magnetic material back via magnetic attraction between the removable magnetic material back of the case and the magnetic material of the skin. In some embodiments, the case further includes a pocket and the removable magnetic material back is configured to be slidably removed from a side portion and/or a top portion of the pocket.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A case for a mobile electronic device, the case comprising:
 a removable magnetic material back that covers substantially all of a back side of the mobile electronic device when the mobile electronic device is housed within the case, the removable magnetic material back including:
 magnetic material; 
 a substantially planar exterior surface facing away from the mobile electronic device when the mobile electronic device is housed within the case; and 
   a skin including magnetic material, wherein the skin is configured to be removably coupled with the substantially planar exterior surface of the removable magnetic material back via magnetic attraction between the removable magnetic material back of the case and the magnetic material of the skin.   
     
     
         2 . The case of  claim 1 , wherein the removable magnetic material back is configured to be slidably removed from the case. 
     
     
         3 . The case of  claim 2 , wherein the case further comprises a pocket and the removable magnetic material back is configured to be slidably removed from a top portion of the pocket. 
     
     
         4 . The case of  claim 2 , wherein the case further comprises a pocket and the removable magnetic material back is configured to be slidably removed from a side portion of the pocket. 
     
     
         5 . The case of  claim 3 , wherein the pocket is transparent. 
     
     
         6 . The case of  claim 3 , wherein the pocket includes tracks configured to receive the removable magnetic material back and to keep the removable magnetic material back firmly in place. 
     
     
         7 . The case of  claim 3 , wherein the pocket is waterproof. 
     
     
         8 . The case of  claim 4 , wherein the pocket is transparent. 
     
     
         9 . The case of  claim 4 , wherein the pocket includes tracks configured to receive the removable magnetic material back and to keep the removable magnetic material back firmly in place. 
     
     
         10 . The case of  claim 4 , wherein the pocket is waterproof. 
     
     
         11 . The case of  claim 1 , further comprising, a rim of encapsulating material that is configured to receive the removable magnetic material back and is further configured to hold the removable magnetic material back in place by stretching the rim of encapsulating material around the removable magnetic material back. 
     
     
         12 . The case of  claim 11 , wherein the rim of encapsulating material is waterproof. 
     
     
         13 . The case of  claim 1 , wherein the skin is configured to cover substantially all of the substantially planar exterior surface of the removable magnetic material back when the skin is removably coupled with the substantially planar exterior surface of the removable magnetic material back. 
     
     
         14 . The case of  claim 1 , the case further comprising:
 a bumper disposed between the removable magnetic material back and the mobile electronic device when the mobile electronic device is housed within the case, wherein the bumper prevents the mobile electronic device from contacting the magnetic material of the removable magnetic material back.   
     
     
         15 . The case of  claim 14 , wherein the bumper comprises a piece of foam, rubber, plastic, fabric, or leather. 
     
     
         16 . The case of  claim 1 , wherein the skin further includes:
 a representational design, wherein when the skin is subject to a first environmental condition, the representational design is substantially the same color as an area of the skin near the representational design; and   wherein when the skin is subject to a second environmental condition, the representational design is a different color than the area of the skin near the representational design.   
     
     
         17 . The case of  claim 16 , wherein the representational design is a temperature indicating design illustrating a temperature of the mobile electronic device housed within the case. 
     
     
         18 . The case of  claim 16 , wherein the representational design is a temperature indicating design illustrating a temperature of the air surrounding the case. 
     
     
         19 . The case of  claim 16 , wherein the representational design is at least partially thermally insulated from the mobile electronic device housed within the case. 
     
     
         20 . The case of  claim 16 , wherein the representational design comprises a flower, an animal, and/or a face.
