Content recording control method for peers, and a device therefor

Abstract

A method and apparatus for controlling content recording for a buddy of a management server are provided. The method includes: receiving a recording request message for the buddy according to an external input; determining whether a local recording apparatus of the buddy is in a recording state; and selectively sending a recording start message to a recording apparatus on a network, different from the local recording apparatus of the buddy, according to a result of the determining.

1 . A method of recording contents by a recording apparatus, the method comprising:
 transmitting, by the recording apparatus, a recording availability message indicating whether the recording apparatus can record the contents;   receiving, by the recording apparatus, a recording start message from a management server, in response to transmitting of the recording availability message;   recording the contents according to the received recording start message; and   outputting a list of the recorded contents to a user according to an external input.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the recording start message comprises at least of content information, information on the user, and content password information. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the recording start message is transmitted from the management server to a network recording apparatus, if the recording availability message indicates that the recording apparatus cannot record the contents, the network recording apparatus being different from the recording apparatus. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the record start message comprises an identifier of the user, and
 the recording apparatus is a local recording apparatus corresponding to the identifier of the user.   
     
     
         5 . A recording apparatus for recording contents, the recording apparatus comprising:
 a transmitting unit which transmits a recording availability message indicating whether the recording apparatus can record the contents;   a receiving unit which receives a recording start message from a management server, in response to transmitting of the recording availability message;   a recording unit which records the contents according to the received recording start message; and   a content list output unit which outputs a list of the recorded contents to a user according to an external input.   
     
     
         6 . The recording apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the recording start message comprises at least one of content information, information on the user, and content password information. 
     
     
         7 . The recording apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the recording start message is transmitted from the management server to a network recording apparatus, if the recording availability message indicates that the recording apparatus cannot record the contents, the network recording apparatus being different from the recording apparatus. 
     
     
         8 . The recording apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the record start message comprises an identifier of the user, and
 the recording apparatus is a local recording apparatus corresponding to the identifier of the user.   
     
     
         9 . A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having embodied thereon a program for executing the method of  claim 1 .
