Abstract

A work boot has a midsole connected between an upper and a sob, the midsole having a plurality of layers of puncture resistant material lining an inner surface and side walls thereof. The side walls extend upwardly from a periphery of the inner surface of the midsole. Additional layers of puncture resistant material cover a bottom of the upper. An arch of the midsole also has a plurality of layers of puncture resistant fabric thereon. The midsole has a series of spaced apart cross members and a shank extending substantially perpendicular to the cross members to provide stability and to prevent reverse flexing of the work boot.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A puncture resistant work boot comprising a sole, a midsole and upper, the midsole having a plurality of puncture resistant layers embedded therein, the midsole having an inner surface and side walls extending upward from a periphery of the inner surface, the puncture resistant layers lining the midsole and having a bottom and at least one side wall extending upward from a periphery of the bottom, the sole being connected to the midsole and the midsole being connected to the upper.

2 . A work boot as claimed in claim 1 wherein the layers of puncture-resistant material line the side walls of the midsole.

3 . A work boot as claimed in claim 2 wherein there are a further plurality of puncture resistant layers affixed to a bottom of the upper.

4 . A work boot as claimed in claim 1 wherein there are a plurality of puncture resistant layers on an arch of the midsole.

5 . A work boot as claimed in any one of claims 1 , 2 or 3 wherein there are cross members extending across the midsole, the cross members being spaced apart from one another.

6 . A work boot as claimed in any one of claims 1 , 2 or 3 where cross members extend across the midsole and are anchored on sides thereof, support a shank extending substantially perpendicular to the cross members.

7 . A work boot as claimed in any one of claims 1 , 2 or 3 wherein the puncture resistant layers are layers of puncture resistant fabric.

8 . A puncture resistant work boot comprising a sole, a midsole and upper, the midsole having an inner surface and side walls extending upward from a periphery of the inner surface, with a plurality of puncture resistant layers covering the inner surface and at least part of the side walls and extending at least from heel to toe and from side wall to side wall of said midsole, the midsole being connected between the upper and the sole to form the work boot.
