Methods and devices for cellular analysis

Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to improved methods and devices for analyzing a cell, aggregated cells, or a solid tumor. Such methods and devices are, for example, useful in the field of pathology and can provide improved cell processing and analytical results.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A cartridge for use in processing or preparing live cancer cells from a subject comprising a plurality of sterile compartments, wherein the compartments can be separated from one another. 
     
     
         2 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one removable vial in a predetermined position on the cartridge. 
     
     
         3 . A cartridge comprising a plurality of compartments including: a compartment for dispersing cells, a compartment for purifying cells, and a compartment that is an isolated chamber. 
     
     
         4 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein at least one compartment is a removable vial in a predetermined position on the cartridge 
     
     
         5 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , further comprising a barcode. 
     
     
         6 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , further comprising a cellular counting mechanism. 
     
     
         7 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein at least one of the plurality of compartments is covered by a pierceable seal. 
     
     
         8 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein the cartridge comprises between about 1 to about 96 wells. 
     
     
         9 . A system for processing live cancer cells comprising the device of  claim 3  and an analytical device. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the system produces an analytical determination at the point of care. 
     
     
         11 . A test kit comprising the cartridge of  claim 3 . 
     
     
         12 . The test kit of  claim 11 , wherein the kit is used at the point of care. 
     
     
         13 . The test kit of  claim 11 , wherein the kit is used in a research setting. 
     
     
         14 . The test kit of  claim 11 , further comprising instructions for use.
