Abstract

A side window visor designed to attach to a vehicle window channel. The side window visor can be arranged and configured to extend over a portion of a window area for preventing inclement weather from entering the, passenger cabin with the window slightly opened. A full length tab is reduced to form a plurality of tabs along the tab area of a side window visor. The plurality of tabs located on the side window visor allows the auto-up window feature to be used without causing large resistance and retraction of the window.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A side window visor comprising:
a visor body having an upper window gasket running length and constructed to follow an upper edge of a vehicle window gasket and extending from a visor body leading edge to a visor body trailing edge; a plurality of tabs extending from the visor body upper window gasket running length, wherein the plurality of tabs are spaced from each other by gaps; and adhesive tape provided along the plurality of tabs.

2 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of tabs have a total running length that is about 10 percent to about 20 percent of the visor body upper window gasket running length.

3 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of tabs comprises an inside surface and an outside surface, and the adhesive tape secured to the outside surface.

4 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the adhesive tape is double sided adhesive tape.

5 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the adhesive tape has a thickness of about 0.7 mm to about 1.1 mm.

6 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the visor comprises a first tab, a second tab, and a third tab extending along the upper window gasket running length.

7 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the visor body and the plurality of tabs are integral.

8 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , further comprising a forward tab extending beyond the leading edge of the visor body.

9 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , further comprising a rearward tab extending beyond the trailing edge of the visor body.

10 . The side window visor according to claim 9 , wherein the forward tab interfaces with a mirror cap, and the rearward tab interfaces with a door channel seal.

11 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the side window visor has a thickness of about 1.4 mm to about 1.8 mm.

12 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the side window visor is formed from an acrylic.

13 . The side window visor according to claim 1 , wherein the side window visor is molded by thermoforming or injection molding.

14 . A motor vehicle and side window visor comprising:
a vehicle door frame including a window frame, a window gasket, a window channel, wherein the window frame defines an opening for the window gasket to fit therein and form the window channel and the window channel is configured to receive a window, and the side window visor adhered within the window channel of the vehicle door frame, the side window visor comprising:
 a visor body having an upper window gasket running length and constructed to follow an upper edge of a vehicle window gasket and extending from a visor body leading edge to a visor body trailing edge;
a plurality of tabs extending from the visor body upper window gasket running length, wherein the plurality of tabs are spaced from each other by gaps; and
adhesive tape provided along the plurality of tabs.

15 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 14 , wherein the plurality of tabs have a total running length that is about 10 percent to about 20 percent of the visor body upper window gasket running length.

16 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 14 , wherein the plurality of tabs comprises a first tab, a second tab, and a third tab that are each integral with the visor body and extend along the upper window gasket running length.

17 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 14 , wherein each of the plurality of tabs have an inside surface and an outside surface and the adhesive tape is secured to the outside surface.

18 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 14 , wherein the plurality of tabs rest inside the window channel to secure the side window visor therein.

19 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 14 , further comprising a forward tab and a rearward tab.

20 . The motor vehicle and side window visor according to claim 19 , wherein the forward tab interfaces with a mirror cap and the rearward tab interfaces with a side window channel.
