Method and apparatus for querying resources thorough search field

Abstract

An approach is provided for providing a querying of one or more resources based on one or more terms from an input within at least one search field. A querying platform determines an input in at least one search field, the input comprising at least one resource identifier and one or more terms. The querying platform further causes, at least in part, a querying of one or more resources associated with the at least one resource identifier for content based, at least in part, on the one or more terms. The querying platform also causes, at least in part, a querying of one or more resources associated with the at least one resource identifier for content based, at least in part, on the one or more terms.

         39 . A method comprising:
 determining an input in at least one search field, the input comprising at least one resource identifier and one or more terms;   causing, at least in part, a querying of one or more resources associated with the at least one resource identifier for content based, at least in part, on the one or more terms; and   causing, at least in part, a presentation of the content in response to the input.   
     
     
         40 . A method of  claim 39 , further comprising:
 causing, at least in part, a navigation to the one or more resources,   wherein the presentation of the content is within the context of the one or more resources.

A method of  claim 40 , wherein the at least one resource identifier includes at least part of a uniform resource locator (URL), and wherein the navigation to the one or more resources comprises causing, at least in part, a directing of a browser application to the URL, another URL associated with the content, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         42 . A method of  claim 41 , wherein the at least one search field is an address bar of the browser application. 
     
     
         43 . A method of  claim 39 , further comprising:
 causing, at least in part, an emphasizing of the one or more terms in the presentation of the content.   
     
     
         44 . A method of  claim 39 , further comprising:
 causing, at least in part, a presentation of a search user interface element for an entry of the input,   wherein the search user interface element provides a predictive input for the at least one resource identifier, the one or more terms, or a combination thereof.   
     
     
         45 . A method of  claim 44 , wherein the predictive input includes, at least in part, providing one or more recommendations for the at least one resource identifier, the one or more terms, or a combination thereof as one or more characters of the input are entered. 
     
     
         46 . A method of  claim 44 , further comprising:
 causing, at least in part, a presentation of the search user interface element on at least one home page of a device.   
     
     
         47 . A method of  claim 39 , wherein the one or more resources includes, at least in part, one or more applications, the method further comprising:
 causing, at least in part, an initiation of the one or more applications for performing the querying of the one or more resources, the presentation of the content, or a combination thereof.   
     
     
         48 . A method of  claim 39 , wherein the one or more terms include, at least in part, one or more keywords, one or more operators acting on the one or more keywords, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         49 . An apparatus comprising:
 at least one processor; and   at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs,   the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following,
 determine an input in at least one search field, the input comprising at least one resource identifier and one or more terms; 
 cause, at least in part, a querying of one or more resources associated with the at least one resource identifier for content based, at least in part, on the one or more terms; and 
 cause, at least in part, a presentation of the content in response to the input. 
   
     
     
         50 . An apparatus of  claim 49 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
 cause, at least in part, a navigation to the one or more resources,   wherein the presentation of the content is within the context of the one or more resources.

 cause, at least in part, a presentation of a search user interface element for an entry of the input,   wherein the search user interface element provides a predictive input for the at least one resource identifier, the one or more terms, or a combination thereof.   
     
     
         55 . An apparatus of  claim 54 , wherein the predictive input includes, at least in part, providing one or more recommendations for the at least one resource identifier, the one or more terms, or a combination thereof as one or more characters of the input are entered.

 cause, at least in part, a presentation of the search user interface element on at least one home page of a device.

 cause, at least in part, an initiation of the one or more applications for performing the querying of the one or more resources, the presentation of the content, or a combination thereof.
