Selectively switching antennas of transaction cards
Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for selectively switching antennas of transaction cards. In some implementations, a method includes physically interfacing a card with a mobile host device including a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The card executes wireless financial transactions independent of the mobile host device. User credentials used to execute financial transactions with retail terminals are stored. Information is presented through the GUI of the mobile host device. An antenna of the card is selectively switched between an activate state and an inactive state in response to at least an event.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 28 . (canceled)
29 . A portable device, comprising:
a connection to a display including a Graphical User Interface (GUI); a connection to a cellular transceiver that communicates with a cellular network; a Near Field Communication (NFC) module including an NFC antenna for executing wireless transactions; secure memory that stores user credentials used to execute the wireless transactions; and an antenna control module that selectively switches the NFC antenna from an activate state to an inactive state in response a predefined event, a request received from a wireless network, or an invalid network identifier.
30 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein the predefined event comprises at least one of a change in at least one of a phone number, a MAC address, or a location.
31 . The portable device of claim 29 , the antenna control module further configured to wirelessly transmits a notification to a financial institution indicating a violation of the one or more rules using cellular radio technology of the portable device.
32 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein the secure memory stores a plurality of security frameworks for the user credentials, a transaction module executes requested transactions using security frameworks from the plurality of security frameworks.
33 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein the wireless transactions are executed in response to at least user selections through dynamically-generated displays.
34 . The portable device of claim 33 , wherein the dynamically-generated displays present information based, at least in part, on at least one of real-time content during transactions, locally-stored offline content, or online content retrieved from the one or more enterprises.
35 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein a user-interface module presents a request for user identification including at least one of a Personal Identification Number (PIN), user ID and password, or biometric authentication through the display and verifies the submitted user identification with user identification locally stored in the secure memory prior to executing requested transactions.
36 . The portable device of claim 29 , further comprising one or more processors further configured to decrypt received signals prior to processing by the NFC module and encrypt at least part of the transaction response prior to wireless transmission.
38 . The portable device of claim 29 , further comprising one or more processors configured to activate access to user credentials and transmits, using a cellular transceiver, to an associated financial institution a request to activate an associated user account.
39 . The portable device of claim 38 , wherein access to user credentials is activated based, at least in part, on a user manually entering an activation code using the GUI of the portable device.
40 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein different user accounts associated with the user credentials are managed using the GUI.
41 . The portable device of claim 29 , further comprising one or more processors further configured to receive requests to update the user credentials through a cellular transceiver of the portable device or a wired connection with a broadband network.
42 . The portable device of claim 29 , further comprising a credentials module configured to at least add new sets of user credentials or delete existing user credentials based, at least in part, on update requests.
43 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein the user credentials include a default user credentials, the NFC module further configured to use the default user credentials after at least completing a requested transaction using different user credentials or expiration of a period of time to complete a transaction using non-default user credentials.
44 . The portable device of claim 29 , wherein user credentials are loaded into the secure memory from a plurality of different enterprises.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
