Abstract
A golf grip for a golf club includes a butt end, a tip end, a grip surface, and a gripping feature. The tip end includes a shaft opening. The grip surface extends between the butt end and the tip end. The grip surface is a tapered circular cylinder with an axis extending from the butt end to the tip end. The gripping feature includes a rake surface forming an acute angle with the grip surface. The rake surface extends into the grip at an acute angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A golf grip for a golf club comprising:
a butt end; a tip end having a shaft opening; a grip surface extending between the butt end and the tip end, the grip surface being a tapered circular cylinder with an axis extending from the butt end to the tip end; and a gripping feature including a slot extending along the grip surface at an intersection with a first plane that includes the axis, the slot extending into the grip at an acute angle relative to a second plane perpendicular to the axis.
2 . The golf grip of claim 1 , wherein the slot includes a rake surface that forms an acute angle with the grip surface.
3 . The golf grip of claim 2 , wherein the rake surface is angled towards the butt end.
4 . The golf grip of claim 2 , wherein the rake surface is angled towards the tip end.
5 . The golf grip of claim 2 , wherein the rake surface and the grip surface form a rake edge that extends along the grip surface at an intersection with the second plane.
6 . The golf grip of claim 1 , wherein the gripping feature further includes a first crossing slot extending along the grip surface and crossing the slot, and a second crossing slot extending along the grip surface parallel to the first crossing slot and crossing the slot, and wherein the first crossing slot and the second crossing slot extend into the grip at the acute angle relative to the second plane.
7 . The golf grip of claim 1 , further comprising a second gripping feature, the second gripping feature including a second slot extending along the grip surface at an intersection with a third plane that includes the axis, the slot extending into the grip at an acute angle relative to the third plane.
8 . The golf grip of claim 7 , wherein the second slot includes a rake surface that forms an acute angle with grip surface, and wherein the rake surface and the grip surface form a rake edge that extends along the grip at an intersection with the third plane.
9 . The golf grip of claim 1 , wherein the golf grip is a putter grip.
10 . A golf grip for a golf club comprising:
a butt end; a tip end having a shaft opening; a grip surface extending between the butt end and the tip end; a shaft mating surface extending from the tip end towards the butt end and located inward from the grip surface, the shaft mating surface having a cylindrical shape with an axis extending in a vertical direction from the tip end to the butt end; and a plurality of gripping features, each including a slot running along a line in the vertical direction on the grip surface, the slot extending into the grip at an acute angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis.
11 . The golf grip of claim 10 , further comprising a second plurality of second gripping features, each including a rake surface that rakes into the grip and forms a rake edge with the gripping surface, the rake edge running along a line in the vertical direction on the grip surface.
12 . The golf grip of claim 10 , wherein the slot for each gripping feature of the plurality of gripping features includes a rake surface that forms an acute angle with the grip surface
13 . The golf grip of claim 12 , wherein the rake surface for each gripping feature of the plurality of gripping features is angled towards the butt end.
14 . The golf grip of claim 12 , wherein the rake surface for each gripping feature of the plurality of gripping features is angled towards the tip end.
15 . The golf grip of claim 10 , wherein each gripping feature of the plurality of gripping features further includes a first crossing slot running along a second line on the grip surface and crossing the slot, and a second crossing slot running along a third line on the grip surface parallel to the second line and crossing the slot, and wherein the first crossing slot and the second crossing slot extend into the grip at the acute angle relative to the plane perpendicular to the axis.
16 . The golf grip of claim 10 , wherein the golf grip is a putter grip.
17 . A golf grip for a golf club comprising:
a butt end; a tip end having a shaft opening; a grip surface extending between the butt end and the tip end; a shaft mating surface extending from the tip end towards the butt end and located inward from the grip surface, the shaft mating surface having a cylindrical shape with an axis extending in a vertical direction from the tip end to the butt end; and a gripping feature including an indentation raking into the grip from the grip surface, the indentation having
a rake surface extending into the grip forming an acute angle with the grip surface, the rake surface and the grip surface forming a rake edge that extends vertically along the grip surface.
18 . The golf grip of claim 17 , wherein the gripping feature includes a first crossing indentation raking into the grip from the grip surface, the first crossing indentation having a second rake surface extending into the grip forming an acute angle with the grip surface, the second rake surface and the grip surface forming a second rake edge that extends across the rake edge, and wherein the gripping feature includes a second crossing indentation raking into the grip from the grip surface, the second crossing indentation having a third rake surface extending into the grip forming an acute angle with the grip surface, the third rake surface and the grip surface forming a third rake edge that is parallel to the second rake edge and extends across the rake edge.
19 . The golf grip of claim 19 , further comprising a second gripping feature including a second indentation raking into the grip from the grip surface at an acute angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis.
20 . The golf grip of claim 17 , wherein the golf grip is a putter grip.Cited by (0)
