Abstract
A multi-screen user device and methods for performing a copy-paste operation using finger gestures are disclosed. A first finger gesture is used to select a display area from which data is to be copied. Subsequently, a drag finger gesture is used to identify where the data that is to be pasted. The drag may extend across a non-display boundary between a first and second display screen of the multi-screen device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A method of operating a multi-display device, comprising:
receiving a first input corresponding to an instruction to copy a first selected content from a first application; copying the first selected content; executing a clipboard application; displaying a clipboard associated with the clipboard application on a second display of the multi-display device; rendering a presentation of a first item with the clipboard application, the first item corresponding to the first selected content, wherein the clipboard is configured to store two or more items of copied content from a plurality of applications, wherein the first item has a first format and a second item has a second format; receiving, on the second display, a second input corresponding to a selection of the first item from the clipboard; receiving a third input to paste the first item in a second application that is different from the first application; and pasting the first selected content to the second application on a first display of the multi-display device.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the second input is received entirely on the second display, and wherein the second input is received by at least one of a touch sensitive display area and a gesture capture area of the multi-display device.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the clipboard application is displayed on the second display of the multi-display device simultaneously with the second application being displayed on the first display of the multi-display device.
24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first application is displayed on the first display of the multi-display device, wherein the first input is received on the first display of the multi-display device, wherein the first input comprises at least one of a drag and flick gesture, and wherein the clipboard is displayed on the second display of the multi-display device when the first input is received.
25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein prior to pasting the first selected content, at least one gesture designates the first display of the multi-display device as a target area for the first selected content.
26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first selected content comprises at least one of text, an image, a video, a file path, and a file.
27 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the second input is received in the gesture capture area, wherein the gesture capture area comprises a region outside the touch sensitive display, wherein the gesture capture area is capable of receiving inputs in the form of gestures and, wherein the gesture capture area does not perform a display function.
28 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the second input is a series of gestures including at least one of a touch gesture, tap gesture, and long press gesture as well as at least one of a drag gesture, a flick gesture, a pinch gesture, and a spread gesture.
29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the at least one of a touch gesture, tap gesture, and long press gesture is received on a touch sensitive display area of the second display that is displaying the first item and wherein the at least one of a drag gesture, flick gesture, pinch gesture, and spread gesture is received on a gesture capture region of the second display.
30 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that cause a computing system to execute a method, the instructions comprising:
instructions configured to receive a first input corresponding to an instruction to copy a first selected content from a first application; instructions configured to copy the first selected content; instructions configured to execute a clipboard application; instructions configured to display a clipboard associated with the clipboard application on a second display of a multi-display device; instructions configured to render a presentation of a first item with the clipboard application, the first item corresponding to the first selected content, wherein the clipboard is configured to store two or more items of copied content from a plurality of applications, wherein the first item has a first format and a second item has a second format; instructions configured to determine that a second input is received on the second display, the second input corresponding to a selection of the first item from the clipboard; instructions configured to determine that a third input is received; instructions configured to paste the first item in a second application that is different from the first application; and instructions configured to paste the first selected content to the second application on a first display of the multi-display device.
31 . The computer-readable medium of claim 30 , wherein the clipboard application is displayed on the second display of the multi-display device simultaneously with the second application being displayed on the first display of the multi-display device.
32 . The computer-readable medium of claim 30 , wherein the first application is displayed on the first display of the multi-display device, wherein the first input is received on the first display of the multi-display device, wherein the first input comprises at least one of a drag and flick gesture, and wherein the clipboard is displayed on the second display of the multi-display device when the first input is received.
33 . The computer-readable medium of claim 30 , wherein the second input is received entirely on the second display, and wherein the second input is received by at least one of a touch sensitive display area and a gesture capture area of the multi-display device.
34 . The computer-readable medium of claim 31 , wherein the second input is received in the gesture capture area, wherein the gesture capture area comprises a region outside the touch sensitive display, wherein the gesture capture area is capable of receiving inputs in the form of gestures and, wherein the gesture capture area does not perform a display function.
35 . The computer-readable medium of claim 33 , wherein the second input is a series of gestures including at least one of a touch gesture, tap gesture, and long press gesture as well as at least one of a drag gesture, a flick gesture, a pinch gesture, and a spread gesture.
36 . The computer-readable medium of claim 35 , wherein the at least one of a touch gesture, tap gesture, and long press gesture is received on a touch sensitive display area of the second display that is displaying the first item and wherein the at least one of a drag gesture, flick gesture, pinch gesture, and spread gesture is received on a gesture capture region of the second display.
37 . A multi-display user device, comprising:
a first display including a first display area; a second display including a second display area; and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that include:
a clipboard application configured to execute a clipboard, receive a first input corresponding to an instruction to copy a first selected content from a first application, copy the first selected content, render a presentation of a first item corresponding to the first selected content on the clipboard, wherein the clipboard is configured to store two or more items of copied content from a plurality of applications, wherein the first item has a first format and a second item has a second format, determine that a second input is received on the second display of the multi-display device, the second input corresponding to a selection of the first item from the clipboard, receive a third input and an instruction to paste the first item in a second application that is different from the first application, and in response to receiving the second input, paste the first selected content to the second application on the first display of the multi-display device.
38 . The device of claim 37 , wherein the clipboard application is displayed on the second display of the multi-display device simultaneously with the second application being displayed on the first display of the multi-display device.
39 . The device of claim 37 , wherein the second input is received entirely on the second display, wherein the second input is received by at least one of a touch sensitive display area and a gesture capture area of the multi-display device.
40 . The device of claim 39 , wherein the second input comprises at least one of a flick gesture and a drag gesture.Cited by (0)
