Abstract

A sealing assembly includes a container and a sealing mechanism for the container. The container body has an out-turned lip provided at an open end that surrounds a perimeter thereof. The sealing mechanism includes a first portion and a second portion, where the first portion has a bearing surface supporting the underside of the out-turned lip. The second portion is fitted over the open end of the container and includes an abutment surface in abutment with the upperside of the out-turned lip. The second portion has a blending impeller for use in blending product within the container. The first and second portions are united to clamp the out-turned lip of the body between the first portion and the second portion and thereby seal product within the container.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A sealing assembly comprising a container and a sealing mechanism for the container,
wherein the container comprises a body for receiving product, the body having a first end which defines an open end of the container, and a second end, remote from said first end, which defines a closed end of the container, wherein the body defines a longitudinal axis extending between said first and second ends, and has an out-turned lip provided at said open end, wherein said out-turned lip surrounds a perimeter of the open end and comprises an underside and an upperside, wherein the sealing mechanism comprises a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion of the sealing mechanism comprises a bearing surface supporting the underside of the out-turned lip, wherein the second portion of the sealing mechanism is fitted over the open end of the container and includes an abutment surface in abutment with the upperside of the out-turned lip, wherein the second portion further comprises a blending impeller for use in blending product within the container, wherein the second portion includes a rotatable drive formation for use in coupling the blending impeller to a blending drive, and wherein the first and second portions are united to clamp the out-turned lip of the body between the first portion and the second portion and thereby seal product within the container.

2 . The sealing assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second portion further comprises a skirt, wherein the skirt extends over and below the out-turned lip and bearing surface of the first portion.

3 . The sealing assembly of claim 1 , wherein the container portion comprises an upper region proximal to the out-turned lip, and wherein the first portion has an internal diameter around said upper region of the container portion.

4 . The sealing assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first portion is a collar.

5 . The sealing assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first portion is an enclosure encasing the body of the container.

6 . The sealing assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first portion comprises an upper section having a first set of engagement features, and wherein the second portion comprises a lower section having a second set of engagement features, and wherein the first set of engagement features engages with the second set of engagement features in order to unite the first portion with the second portion.

7 . The sealing assembly of claim 6 , wherein the first set of engagement features is an external threaded profile, and wherein the second set of engagement features is an internal threaded profile.

8 . A sealing system comprising a container and a sealing mechanism for the container,
wherein the container comprises a body for receiving product, the body having a first end which defines an open end of the container, and a second end, remote from said first end, which defines a closed end of the container, wherein the body defines a longitudinal axis extending between said first and second ends, and has an out-turned lip provided at said open end, wherein said out-turned lip surrounds a perimeter of the open end and comprises an underside and an upperside, wherein the sealing mechanism comprises a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion of the sealing mechanism comprises a bearing surface configured to support the underside of the out-turned lip, wherein the second portion of the sealing mechanism is configured to fit over the open end of the container and includes an abutment surface configured to abut the upperside of the out-turned lip, and a blending impeller for use in blending product within the container, wherein the second portion includes a rotatable drive formation for use in coupling the blending impeller to a blending drive, wherein the first portion and the second portion are configured to cooperate with one another to contain the out-turned lip of the container and thereby seal product within the container, and wherein the first portion and the second portion are configured to unite in such a way that the bearing surface engages the underside of the out-turned lip and the abutment surface abuts the upperside of the out-turned lip, in order to clamp the out-turned lip of the body between the first portion and the second portion.

9 . The sealing system of claim 8 , wherein the second portion further comprises a skirt, wherein the skirt is configured to extend over and below the out-turned lip and bearing surface of the first portion.

10 . The sealing system of claim 8 , wherein the container portion comprises an upper region proximal to the out-turned lip, and wherein the first portion has an internal diameter configured to fit around said upper region of the container portion.

11 . The sealing system of claim 8 , wherein the first portion is a collar.

12 . The sealing system of claim 8 , wherein the first portion is an enclosure configured to encase the body of the container.
