Abstract
A device for closing an opening in a tissue includes a closure body, a fastening element, and a capture strip coupleable to the closure body such that the capture strip is moveable from a first position to a second position relative to the closure body, the capture strip including a receptacle configured to receive the fastening element when the capture strip is in the first position such that movement of the capture strip from the first position to the second position causes the fastening element to urge the closure body toward the tissue.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 60 . (canceled)
61 . A device for closing an arteriotomy, the device comprising:
an intra-arterial foot component; and an extra-arterial bolster, wherein
the intra-arterial foot component is a tamponade for controlling bleeding during a delivery of the closure device,
the intra-arterial foot component comprises a central core and a flexible wing, and
the flexible wing forms a seal with a portion of the arteriotomy.
62 . The device of claim 61 , wherein a diameter of the central core is less than a diameter of the arteriotomy.
63 . The device of claim 61 , wherein a diameter of the flexible wing is greater than a diameter of the arteriotomy.
64 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the intra-arterial foot component comprises a bioabsorbable material.
65 . The device of claim 64 , wherein the bioabsorbable material is selected from the group consisting of polyglycolic acid (PGA), polyglycolic/lactic acid (PGLA), polyurethane (PUR), polydioxanone (PDO) and any combination thereof.
66 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the intra-arterial foot component comprises a radiopaque material.
67 . The device of claim 66 , wherein the radiopaque material is selected from the group consisting of radiopaque metal alloy, barium sulfate, magnesium alloy, and any combination thereof.
68 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the intra-arterial foot component is porous.
69 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the central core has a circular configuration.
70 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the flexible wing has a circular configuration.
71 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the central core has uniform thickness.
72 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the central core has varying thickness.
73 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the flexible wing includes a plurality of patterned holes, slots and/or midsections.
74 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the flexible wing has flexibility in both lateral and longitudinal planes.
75 . The device of claim 61 , wherein the flexible wing allows elastic deformation and provides sufficient strength, stiffness or rigidity to the central core to allow correct positioning.
76 . The device of claim 61 , wherein more than 90% of the intra-arterial foot component is absorbed within 300 days.
77 . A system for closing an arteriotomy, the system comprising:
a closure device comprising an intra-arterial foot component and an extra-arterial bolster, wherein
the intra-arterial foot component is a tamponade for controlling bleeding during a delivery of the closure device,
the intra-arterial foot component comprises a central core and a flexible wing, and
the flexible wing forms a seal with a portion of the arteriotomy; and
a delivery device comprising a delivery sheath for delivering and positioning the closure device in the arteriotomy.
78 . A method of deploying a flexing wing in the closure of an arteriotomy, the method comprising:
disposing the flexible wing in a substantially folded first position in a delivery sheath and deploying the flexible wing to a deployed second position in the arteriotomy using a system comprising:
a closure device comprising an intra-arterial foot component and an extra-arterial bolster, wherein
the intra-arterial foot component is a tamponade for controlling bleeding during a delivery of the closure device,
the intra-arterial foot component comprises a central core and a flexible wing, and
the flexible wing forms a seal with a portion of the arteriotomy; and
a delivery device comprising a delivery sheath for delivering and positioning the closure device in the arteriotomy.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
