Defining and matching segments
Abstract
Defining and matching segments is disclosed. In some embodiments, defining and matching segments includes receiving a user defined segment via a user interface input; and determining a matching effort (e.g., which can include a set of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) data) to the segment using a processor. In some embodiments, the data associated with the effort includes one or more of the following: heart rate, speed, time, and power. In some embodiments, defining and matching segments further includes storing data associated with the matching effort with the segment. In some embodiments, the user defined segment is based at least in part in uploaded GPS data. In some embodiments, the user defined segment is based at least in part on selected points on a map application.

2 . A system, comprising:
a processor configured to:
receive recorded GPS data associated with an effort, wherein the recorded GPS data is associated with a first geographical information format;
convert the recorded GPS data associated with the effort into a second geographical information format, wherein the second geographical information format is associated with GPS data associated with a segment; and
determine that the effort matches a segment based at least in part on comparing the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort to the GPS data associated with the segment; and
a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the recorded GPS data comprises a set of GPS points.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive a definition of the segment.
5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein to receive the definition of the segment comprises to:
present GPS data associated with an uploaded effort; receive a user input start point associated with the GPS data associated the uploaded effort; and receive a user input end point associated with the GPS data associated with the uploaded effort, wherein at least a portion of the GPS data associated with the uploaded effort is determined based at least in part on the user input start point and the user input end point comprises the definition of the segment.
6 . The system of claim 4 , wherein to receive the definition of the segment comprises to receive a set of inputs associated with a corresponding set of locations on a map.
7 . The system of claim 2 , wherein to determine that the effort matches the segment comprises to determine that a match of the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort to the GPS data associated with the segment exceeds a threshold match value.
8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the processor is further configured to compare recorded auxiliary data associated the effort to recorded auxiliary data associated with one or more other efforts that match the segment.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to present data associated with the comparison of the recorded auxiliary data associated the effort to the recorded auxiliary data associated with the one or more other efforts that match the segment
10 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the second geographical information format comprises minimum bounding rectangles.
11 . The system of claim 2 , wherein to determine that the effort matches the segment comprises to determine that the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort crossing a virtual start line associated with the segment, a virtual end line associated with the segment, or both.
12 . A method, comprising:
receiving recorded GPS data associated with an effort, wherein the recorded GPS data is associated with a first geographical information format; converting, using a processor, the recorded GPS data associated with the effort into a second geographical information format, wherein the second geographical information format is associated with GPS data associated with a segment; and determining that the effort matches a segment based at least in part on comparing the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort to the GPS data associated with the segment.
13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving a definition of the segment.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein receiving the definition of the segment comprises:
presenting GPS data associated with an uploaded effort; receiving a user input start point associated with the GPS data associated the uploaded effort; and receiving a user input end point associated with the GPS data associated with the uploaded effort, wherein at least a portion of the GPS data associated with the uploaded effort is determined based at least in part on the user input start point and the user input end point comprises the definition of the segment.
15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein receiving the definition of the segment comprises receiving a set of inputs associated with a corresponding set of locations on a map.
16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein determining that the effort matches the segment comprises determining that a match of the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort to the GPS data associated with the segment exceeds a threshold match value.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising comparing recorded auxiliary data associated the effort to recorded auxiliary data associated with one or more other efforts that match the segment.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising presenting data associated with the comparison of the recorded auxiliary data associated the effort to the recorded auxiliary data associated with the one or more other efforts that match the segment
19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the second geographical information format comprises minimum bounding rectangles.
20 . The method of claim 12 , wherein determining that the effort matches the segment comprises determining that the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort crossing a virtual start line associated with the segment, a virtual end line associated with the segment, or both.
21 . A computer program product, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:
receiving recorded GPS data associated with an effort, wherein the recorded GPS data is associated with a first geographical information format; converting the recorded GPS data associated with the effort into a second geographical information format, wherein the second geographical information format is associated with GPS data associated with a segment; and determining that the effort matches a segment based at least in part on comparing the converted recorded GPS data associated with the effort to the GPS data associated with the segment.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
